I am a huge NWN1 fan who tried the NWN2 OC years ago and didn't really get into it.

But I just picked up complete NWN2 from GOG, figuing it would be all patched up and DRM free. As good as it can get.

I still find the camera aggravating compared the NWN1 camera, are there any 3rd party tweaks to make this better(more like NWN1)?

I also notice something I didn't remember from my first try years ago.  Character walking animation seems disconected from ground covered. This is driving me nuts. Is this normal? It looks like ultra low budget cartoons where the background is on a loop and the character feet are moving at an unrelated speed.

The 'Exploration Mode' camera seems to be popular. It's certainly the one I use. All you need to move about is to click on the ground where you want to go to, and hold down the scroll wheel on the mouse to rotate the camera direction at will. The camera automatically follows your currently possessed character.

As for the animation bugs - you'll encounter the occasional bit of rubber-banding and moon-walking no matter how good your system is, but some graphics cards might make them more frequent than others. The speed at which the animations run might also depend on the frame rates you're getting, which could also be a graphics card issue.

and check out the NeverLauncher, a 3rd party app designed to custom-launch NwN2. It has extensive (read: complete) access to camera adjustments (don't get overwhelmed..) plus comes with a camera-style 'smooth camera' that i worked long and hard on, trying to replicate NwN's camera ( for Exploration mode ). If you load that up it should slow the controls down generally, and I imagine that on a spiffy new computer the degree of precision would approximate NwN.

Note, that NL will write you a new config ( .Ini ) file or two under \Documents folder. Then you're free to launch the game with or without the NeverLauncher, with any modified camera settings intact.

Tried it, but I can't see the camera controls. Where are they hiding? It doesn't look anything like the interface in that thread for me.  The Preferences screen shows: General/Folder Locations/Package management/Account Settings. None of them have any camera controls.

edit:

So what I did was grab the Smooth Control cfg file and edit it, into my ini. That seemed to give you a slower end to the range sliders for speed. I can get the rotation speed just right.

The thing that is messed up in NWN2 is the mousewheel zooming.  I can now adjust it to where it is painfully slow.  But there is no correct speed because they scaled it wrong. It goes really slow when you are zoomed far out, where you could use a bit of acelleration, but it goes fast when close in, exaclty where you need more precision. Totally backward.  So I can't set it correctly because it will either be too fast close in or too slow far out.

Really the Obsidian guys seemed to have engaged in change for change sake, that went awry.

looks like, Menu|File|Open->navigate to Configs_Camera in the NeverLauncher folder->Open a .cfg file. that's kinda screwy

re. zoom-in/out : yeah that sounds like what's going on (unfortunately). And agree on the last point.
