Alright, fair enough.

Thanks Brian, that worked. Unfortunately I am stuck with IE, so I'll use this method as a work-around. Do you know if pasting text into the reply box is also a problem with IE 10/11?

I'm in IE10 now, and I was able to copy/paste from your post without issue.  I don't know of any problems at present for that workflow.

Yeah. I'm on IE11. Odd. I just discovered that if I click the ''lightswitch'' and then paste, it works fine. If I do not, text does not appear.

I can't post in http://forum.bioware...ign-characters/ while I can in  Scuttlebutt. Was I banned from posting in some forums?

Not sure if this is the exact problem you're having, but another member posted about something similar, at the link below, and got a reply from a Bioware employee, the nice Brian Mills.

I had a problem with linking my Dragon Age Origins profile to my forum profile. Perhaps because I have the Ultimate Edition (the link is of the format "http://social.biowar...&nid=xxxxxxxxxx" and changes to "http://social.bioware.com/playerprofile.php?nid=xxxxxxxxxx&game=dragonage" after switching through the menus). No matter which link from the player profile I used, my forum profile always complained about it.

After some tries I fixed it by pasting the ten-digit number into the example link ("http://social.biowar...na_id=123456789") instead of the first number behind "nid=" and using the "persona ID" of one of my characters for the second number. I also edited the "ps3" to "pc".

Not only can I not quote (which is sorta ok anyway), but I cannot paste anything  into  anything  !?

I get the proper dialogues and everything, but nothing gets transfered into any edit window of this new forum :D. Works just fine to immediately paste the same stuff into anyhing else :).  (..and yes, IE 11 )

When I was in the military(80's & 90's) we had something similiar. When asking a stupid question, how many others would like to know the answer but were afraid to ask.

I'd already figured the majority of the stuff covered in this guide myself before I ended up finding this thread, but damn Volus I have to commend you for this guide, it's really well made.

I can now paste text into the reply box (with clipboard), but the entire toolbar is greyed-out, useless. I am using Firefox. And it all worked up til 3 days ago. So, unless I use html, no changes in text size/color/links/ will work.

~~This includes the text-box for editing the about-me page signature.

luna1124, is the "lightswitch" icon in your reply box toggled by chance? If I change it on my reply form, I get behaviour similar to what you describe.

I have the same issue. Also, I'm unable to post any pictures. I click on Image, the box appears, but it won't leave. It won't post the picture, i can't close the box, I have to refresh the entire page. I'm using IE 11.

What's the pixels by pixels for avatars?

The old forum it was 146x146, and I've heard that's still the case, but I can't speak for its accuracy.

EDIT: NVM, it appears to be 100x100 in the new forum.

The site can resize images, but its resizing isn't exactly top notch.

Is it possible to use a .gif as a forum avatar? And if so, is it against the site rules to do so?

I notice the 'browse' button says it supports .jpeg, .png and .gif, but it might just be that it allows those files to be uploaded.

You can use a .gif, but it will only display one frame of it in the forums. I BELIEVE it will show the full animation on your profile page.

This was HYPOTHETICALLY done for performance reasons-all the gifs in sigs and avatars would greatly slow down the people w/ less than top notch comps or connections.

OK. Well, there's really no need to have a gif as an avatar, if you only see the one frame. Might be best just to make it into a regular .jpeg. Thanks.

Someone did make a userscript that allows gif avatars but it does slow down the site a bit

Thank god for this, was all set to get on a plane and hunt down the individual at Bioware who didn't tell me how to display my registered games on my profile  :P

But after an hours ranting I found this  :D

And the fact that the forum now allows me to change the god awful user name I had (that I wrote in another rage moment because the name I wanted was taken) means all is forgiven.

<Buys drink for Mr Volus Warlord  ;)

I on the other hand just keep on saying 'what?' I can get the copied text and paste it in but cannot get your name in the top where it says quote.
