Everytime I try to go out of the facility in the horse head nebula, the game stop working and I get this log:

General protection fault!

History: OpenAdapter() Address = 0x66d12612 (filename not found) [in C:\\Windows\\system32\\atiumdag.dll]
OpenAdapter() Address = 0x66d12612 (filename not found) [in C:\\Windows\\system32\\atiumdag.dll]

[177.883] Critical: Windows GetLastError: Le fichier spécifié est introuvable. (2)

Does anyone knows what I can do other than reinstalling the game or contact EA. I'm not being lazy but everytime I contacted EA for an issue it's been a pain in the ass and since it's a digital download and that my EADM is so bugged I can't even think of reinstalling it (yeah, it's been 2 weeks that I'm waiting for EA to fix it and still not done).
...
Any idea would be great, thanks!

If it is a digital copy, try using that providers game validator/file checker (like steam you can right click, properties, verify game cache). If it is a physical copy, you most likely should try reinstalling. Reinstalling wont erase your savegames.

Thank you for the answer,

It's a digital copy. Sorry for being a noob but I don't understand on what file exactly do I have to right click to be able to verify my game cache, and where is the game validator?

The atiumdag.dll is part of the ATI video driver. A missing file would indicate a corrupt install or NTFS file system.

I would do the following things.

1. Run "chkdsk c: /f/r" to fix any NTFS file system problems that you might have. This will take a reboot and some time to complete.

2. Remove and re-install your ATI video drivers. Use Driversweeper to make sure that the ATI video driver is completely removed.

I have nvidia GPUs but I would do this for any driver/application that was missing files.

This would work well too.

But if you have steam, you right click on the game name, there will be a button "properties" click on that. A window will open. Then click on "local files" tab of that window. Then click the "verify game cache" button.

If that says "all files validated successfully. No files were downloaded" then do what doofus said. And isntead of going cmd line with it, you can just open up my computer. Right click on your C: drive, then click properties. Then a window will open, click on the tools tab. Under error checking section, click the "check now" button. Select both options. It will say you have to reboot to do this, and agree to schedule it for next reboot. Then reboot. It will take quite some time (30 mins to several hours), depending on the size of the drive and how many files exist on it.

I get that General Protection Fault every time I try to run ME on the laptop, straight after the initial splash screen..So I can't even get into the game using the laptop. Bugs the hell out of me because DragonAge runs as smooth as can be. I've spent hours looking around forums and trawling around tech help and nada's fixed it so far. I've kind of given up on it as a bad job.

I don't know if the EADM has that feature. If you've thoroughly explored the things you can do with whatever listing it shows for ME, maybe it doesn't.

Which means you should probably re-install. Crashing at a very specific point in the game, and only at that point, usually means that part of the game's data is corrupted, and the only way to fix it is to get an intact install. (The good news is, it's likely nothing is wrong with your hardware, OS, or other software. Yay!)

Thank you for all your answers! It's been really helpful ^_^ I've tried what you said but unfortunately it still doesn't work. Kloreep, you must be right, because I tried the EADM feature that KBGeller advised but I've looked everywhere and there's no way to do it, weird... Or I'm just too dumb to find it maybe.

The thing is that it's not the first time that it crashes like that but usually I just reload and it works but this time I might have tried it a thousand time and it crashes everytime I try to exit the building... I suppose I'll have to go on an earlier save and don't do this side quest... and pray that it doesn't get worse or do that on a main mission. Can it be a bring down the sky issue? I heard that it causes bugs sometimes.

GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT:

Simple thing that worked for me i was running it on a 32bit xp (with admin privilages). but what worked for me was:

- right click the game (or shortcut works) 'run as...'

- run it as administrator. Input pass n stuff

- dunt know why it would work but it does. no idea if it works on vista or win 7. Works with Spore, sims 3, and battlefield 2142 whenever it doesn't let me run it (no idea why it works sometimes and not others, must be an EA thing?)

FOR IN-GAME CRASHES/GLITCHES:

Make multiple saves, save often, make sure you meet minimum specs (at least), keep you drivers updated (make sure you replace/delete the only ones first), reinstall ME, disable all DLC, attempt to reinstall EADM (what sometimes screws it up is if its a EADM installed from an older EA game, best thing to do is uninstall it everytime you install a new EA game), and take up a yoga class (to help vent your anger or else you might grow horns and wield red lightsabers...)

hope this helps and Good luck.

Thanks, every answer help.

I think I found a solution, I searched everywhere and someone told that deleting the bioengine.ini and restarting the game could do the trick so I did and it seems to work. At least I'm out of the building now, yay!  We'll see if it keeps crashing.

Where exactly is that bioengine.ini?
