Problem With Groups and Invites

There appears to be some trouble spots in the software when it comes to groups. Invites can become broken, and the people who receive them are unable to use them. However, they can't be cancelled, leaving the person in limbo, unable to access the group.

We're looking for a workaround, for now, but I wanted to make people aware of the issue.

I will update this post if we find a workaround to the problem.

Not just you, Grey. Kel Riever is having this same issue and I'm at my wit's end trying to figure it out. He can't accept the invite (says it's saying it's deleted or expired or something?), and I can't send a new invite because I had already sent him that first one.

:(

Can we have the old system back?

I've added this to our bug list and we'll look into it.

Does it happen when the group "Membership Approval" is set to "Open" or does it only happen when you require an invite? If it is the later you might be able to get around it by temporarily opening up the group.

So far, happening when set to "require an invite".

It seems they go to use the invite and it becomes unusable for them, but we cannot send a "new" invite because it still shows as "pending" on our end.

Can you guys send me via private message the user ID's of the people affected and if possible the "key" they were sent as part of the invite email?

Well, the one person I had invited who had had a remaining issue managed to resolve it earlier this morning and he thinks it might've been user error on his part.

I can't speak for the problem Grey was having since someone else had invited him. I'll message them and see if they can get in touch with you directly if Grey's issue is still there.

We're just getting in touch with him.

I can send you the keylink, and I'll include a screenshot from him if I hear back from him before I send it.

We had the issue pop up with a few different people, but there was some confusion because of the "Administrative Approval" requirement. I believe some of the users didn't realize that it was by design that they were unable to access the group, at first.

So, we're not really sure if more than one person was ultimately effected, but if it happens again, I'll message the person right away to screencap what they're seeing, in the hopes of narrowing in on the solution.

We did some testing on our part and that is what we are thinking too because the messaging is a little weird.

It looks like when an invite is sent a message is created between the person who sent the invite and the person the invite is intended for. The confusing part is that the message will show up in the invitees inbox with a red "deleted" text beside the subject. This is because the message gets marked as deleted by the person who did the inviting so that it doesn't also show up in their inbox. This might be confusing people who are getting the invite because they might think their invite has already been deleted when it really hasn't.

The link inside that invite message should still work as long as it still displays in your GroupCP "Invite List" page. You should also be able to copy the URL from the "Invite Link" hyperlink and send that to the person yourself if they have either deleted the message from their inbox or aren't sure what to do.

Hopefully that clears up some of the invite issues people are having?

We'll test that as soon as we hear from him. :)
