Is the shadow broker one of the illusive man's alter egos?
What do you think?

Nope. Shadow existed before humanity entered the galactic community, also the illusive man would probably never sell the humans out to anyone, as he is head of cerberus.

I'm not sure, but doesn't he has something to do with

Ceberus, or whatever they are called?

Anyway, it's a good theory and that might just be the case.

I don't think the IM is the SB, but just so you know, IM was alive back before humanity found the mass relays. I think he even had a wife and kids.

No. That would mean fewer shadowy villains for shepard to kill.

*facepalm* He means that the SB was on the Citadel scene before humanity made first contact. TIM could be the 2000 year old man, but no alien ever heard of him before 36 years ago.

TIM is an enemy of the Shadow Broker, as seen in the comic. Unless, by some crazy twist, he's playing everyone in the galaxy against each other.

In the comic the Illusive Man and the Shadow Broker are actively working against each other.

When does the player interact with the shadow broker? I must have missed that quest.

@reaper edge I read it sir, and ascension. It was a while ago though, so remind me please!

The collectors leader is shown speaking to the Shadow Broker asking where Shepard body is, since Shepard is the only hope humanity has it will be stupid to sell your best possible person down the river by the very species who are abducting humans.

If anything, TIM put out a hit on SB, and now has taken over the SB's organization quietly and seamlessly, and is using the SB position's power as a way to control the Galaxy and keep Cerberus concealed (gobbling up any gleaned information a la "Hades Dogs"'s conclusion).

Alright simple reason TIM cannot be TSB. Why would he sell information about his organization in exchange for nothing else but more information on his organization?

Seriously, in the first game the Shadow Broker is actively looking for info on Cerberus.

They are enemy factions.

I think it is pretty clear that this isn't true since the Shadow Broker (probably an AI) wants to give Shepard's body to the Collectors, while TIM intervenes to prevent this.

They even antagonize each other in Mass Effect, though you would have to play the game to know that.

Why would TIM buy back his own information? I'm sure Cerberus keeps backups.

I always suspected The Shadow Broker was a Reaper. Though there was that whole thing about Saren betraying the Shadow Broker. Still, it would make sense that the Reapers would trade information both to stay informed and to make sure the galaxy developed the way they wanted it.

Thats actually what I believe too, because when they describe the Shadow Broker they always said he pursued all information, and that when he traded info it was never enough to disrput the balance between the powers.

Well - if the Shadow Broker and the Illusive Man are enemies.

That makes the SB and myself real good friends.

Even if SB maybe a reaper?

A while ago I pondered the idea of TIM being SB, as to the whole 'Hades Dog' mess, way I saw it at the time was that he was ensuring no one got their hands on the data.

Though if what others have said is true that happens in the books, it would seem a bit crazy him being the current SB.

Remember one of the thoughts is that the SB is some sort of group.

I wonder if we'll ever find out or whether it will remain a mystery even after the trilogy is over?
