Of course not. If I had music playing in the background, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the soothing tones of 50 spawn-forced Banshees for the 20 straight minutes of a typical Platinum game.
I like to turn the volume up on Reapers Plat so I can have a hearing aid by 30.

Lately it's been a weird mix of Tool, Alice in Chains, Pretty Hate Machine (the only NiN album I like from beginning to end), Garbage and Portishead. I'm experimenting with my various Pandora stations and that's what my favorite one is throwing at me the most.

it's a popular song that plays constantly on almost every mainstream rock radio station. so your hate for it is totally natural.
I usually listen to music while pugging/soloing although, I can't play as well when I'm not listening to music. Also, it feels weird not listening while playing.
While I don't listen to music while in game, I like to match music to the characters when making/watching videos.
eg:
Quarian females - pop music with autotuned female vocal
Salarians - rap/punk with relatively high pitch male vocals
Turians - rock/metal with low pitch male vocal
Asari - pop/rock with female vocals
Geth - epic choral trailer music (because they're many voices speaking as one)

I'm usually listening to various soundtracks from movies and games as well as the typical "epic" music from TSFH, Audiomachine etc. I also listen to various rock bands (Led Zeppelin, Rush, Kings of Leon...you name it).
I only have Pandora open if I'm soloing. If it's a U/U I tend to stay with the game.
I always gota play ma Chiddy Bang when in on Quarians because we all know they love Chiddy Bang.

I only really listen to music when I am pugging if I am with friends we are to busy talking for me to listen to the music. When pugging I tend to listen to different types of metal.
These are just the ones I have been listening to the most recently.
If I do listen to music, I'll be shuffling.

When sniping with the black widow, I play Pink Cellphone by Deftones. Bit of an odd choice I know but it just has that certain ring when I'm sniping with that particular gun. Any other time I'm usually listening to Pearl Jam, Dethklok, and Tool.
i've been in a huge deftones mood lately. been listening to their albums while playing. i also like listening to meshuggah which seems to fit right in with the mass effect universe. in fact, meshuggah are pretty much reapers themselves. once you listen to them you're immediately indoctrinated.

Everyone disagrees with me, but I say Binaural, Riot Act, and Pearl Jam are their best albums. Ten is overplayed. And Vitalogy is everyones pick for best album.
Also I have seen a lot of video game soundtracks in here, Where do you guys get them from? Is there a site I can download them or you listen to them from youtube, or buy it off iTunes?
