While rouges and warriors cannot live without it murder knife seems a bit dull for mages.

There are limitless possibilities when magic comes to play, why use a knife? Why not magically remove their spine and hit their head with it or stop their heart, roast them, electrocute them etc...

Opinions?

I've often felt that the "murder knife" scenes should be more tailored towards your class, and even equipped weapon.

However, I understand the logistical problems with such an idea. I won't be upset if it's just regular old murder knife, but it would be nice to see more specialized kill scenes.

Mostly the murder knife is used in occasions when the enemy is defenceless or surprised, so I wouldn't want anything too flashy.

A quick blast of fire could fit, perhaps

Yeah, the murder knife as a mage didn't make a whole lot of sense. However, it does make sense to have a subtle and quick killing option. What about the murder knife with a little lightning electrocution on the side?

I liked to think that my Mage Hawke kept it for things like cutting Elfroot from the land and such.

He also used it for mercy kills because it was more quick and painless than a Fireball

Yeah, knives are pretty useful to have around, even if you're a mage.

If someone needs to die, like in the Anders death scene, and a knife can do the trick, then use the knife. Don't see why a mage PC would need make a big show of it.

Agreed. The murderknife is simply an utility knife, which practically every traveler in medieval times carried since it was useful for various purposes. So in Thedas, an utility knife would pretty much be on all travelers, including mages.

I'd love if each class got a different murder implement. Rogues, obviously, keep the knife. Mages should use some kind of magic- I've got Star Wars on the brain so my first two ideas were a telekinetic choke and Sidious style "UNLIIIMITED POWA" lightning to the face.

Warriors should just punch and strangle people to death, real personal-like.

I think it was just used back then so everyone had a common way to murder someone, but yea I always wanted to be the weapon I was using as to the knife.  Like the murder shield.

I wouldn't be opposed to class specific murder methods, but I always loved the murder knife, so I would be perfectly fine with having just that again.

I don't have any problem with the murder knife, but I think there were a few scenes where a fireball would have made more sense for a mage.

If I'm that eager to murder someone, and I'm RP-ing as a mage, then I must insist on a face melting spell that only gets used for those special occasions.

If you play as a dwarf it should be a murder gnaw their kneecaps off.

At least that's how I'd love it.

If a mage wants to comit murder without drawing attention a "murder knife" seems like a good idea. It makes it seem like it's less of a apostate murder and more like a regular assasin or robbery gone wrong.

It's possible a high ranking inquisitor mage wouldn't care much either way...

Inquisitor mage: You have been found guilty of indecent conduct. The sentence is "Death by fireball or Electricution".... I'll pick electricution this time!

I'm not certain about the lore but if inquisitors are from different parts of the world and join the same organisation then an inquisitor mage would likely come from Thewinter I belive, unless I remember the name wrong.. Isn't that the mage ruled nation?

It would make sense that they would nominate a mage to perform that very imporant work.

I must admit I havn't been following the Inquisition forum threads and info, but I played DA:O and DA2.

I really liked DA:O and DA2 was ok but could have been better.

Murder knife is funny, dark humor, so keep it up for all, no matter Mages or non-Mages

Blasting someone with magic is not funny

In your opinion.

Of course...what is yours?

I'd like having the option of blasting people with magic, or in general having class-based animations.
That said, I like the murder knife too, so for me it's a win-win scenario.

OK then, what about creating a knife out of pure ICE and stab people with it? Best of both worlds lol. After the act there wont be any evidence too.

Neat idea, but I doubt it's going to happen.

By, the way, I Didn't recognize you at first (though I should've by your avatar :D).

My previous name was too old. It was a lame ass name I come up with back in 2009 when every other name I wanted was taken. :)

Not like I'm the only Anders fan around here, with the new site people are coming back which makes me happy. More importantly The Official Anders thread is back!
