If giving class specific murder weapons causes too much work, I would rather mages use the murder knife than nothing at all. And I would like as many oppurtunities to use the murder knife as possible.

But I actually don't like speccing my mages into fire - I prefer lightning. So if they did give class specific murder weapons - it would bother me if my mage used fireballs only to murder people but nowhere else. So they would have to use just some "generic magic" to keep everyone happy - which is the reason for doing this, right?

I also think it is excusable for mages to use the murder knife. Leaving a trail of murder victims who were obviously killed by magic only hurts the mages' cause - but using the murder knife...it could have been anyone!

I'd like to see something entropy-like for mages, a DoT that slowly melts the target.  And a poisoned MK for rogues, and warriors snap necks.

OMG I need a vacation, I've been working too hard !           :/

I'd just keep it at class-specific murder-knife "Renegade interrupts"... y'know, like Rogue!Hawke's absolutely boss knife toss to kill Feynriel's captor.

Just provide variants to the mage and warrior, only giving them a "mage / warrior" twist... or something.

I'd prefer no murder-knife for anyone. You're the illustrious leader of a very important organisation, not a damn barbarian.

Unless.. you're actually playing as a barbarian, in which case.. carry on!

I feel better about my mage using the murder knife after reading this thread :)

Hey, the murder knife for all classes is WAY better than the awkward murder... slash... from DA:O.  "Please, gently put me out of my misery!" /HugeInaccurateWoundingSlash /SlowPainfulBleedoutDeath

Like when Ripley kills those mutant clones of her using a bloody flamethrower. Yeah, real humane, Ellen.

Mages could blow enemies chest from inside out with telekinesis
Or do it Fenris style, crushing theyre heart with telekinesis
Or kill them with theyre FEAR MMUHAHA-simply heart attack

Warriors could kill enemy with small axe or iron spike attached to his gauntlet
Or they can have dagger similiar to the one we can kill Wesley with

In SWtOR they used the equipped weapon to kill NPCs in cutscenes/dialogues and if you're a Sith inquisitor you use force lightning, so I know BW could do this. The opportunity to kill NPCs for whatever reason is cool, the murderknife sucks.

I vote for a display of power coming from your palm, rather than a mundane knife....

While rouges and warriors cannot live without it murder knife seems a bit dull for mages.

There are limitless possibilities when magic comes to play, why use a knife?

Because it allows characters of all classes to use the same animations.

Having all characters do the same thing saves development resources.

Opinions?

Approved. Mages should be able to use spells instead of knife. Like using Crushing Prison, Drain Life etc. would make cool scenes.

I just want a less ornate murder knife.

Never technically used the murder knife myself. Clicked on it just for fun few times, but almost aways reloaded.

By extension though, a show of magic should definitely be used to threaten. Engulfing a fist in flame, or electricity sparking above fingers. Interrogation technique.

Or a fun way to start off a fight. A surprise kill. Launching a fireball/arcane or electricity bolt instantly killing an attacker in a cutscene before battle begins. Same thing could be done for other classes, a thrown knife/quick bow shot for rouges, or snapping a neck/crushing a spine with sword pummel or shield.

Just like the interrupt scenes from Mass Effect.

In your opinion.

Blasting someone with magic is always funny or cool. Using a stupid knife is VERY unfunny. Shows laziness. All the different ways to silently assassinate or not subtle ways to end ones existance and they had a stupid knife in its place like a common muggle... Yes I said it! Muggle!! Muhahaha! *clears throat* sorry...

My inner barbarian would cry tears of blood if the murder knife was ever taken away.

That said, the option to kill certain NPC's will always be there anyway, so it's either the murder knife or using their main weapon, which would mean mages are left out in the cold entirely unless they go for the Vader-esque force choke or something. I for one like my Hawke to be able to slit Kelder's throat no matter the class.

Do you want to know why I use a knife? Magic is too quick. You can't savour all the... little emotions. You see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know your enemies better than you ever did.

That's true... knives are very personal.  Now all my Wardens and Hawkes seem a bit more psychotic.

Would you like to know which of your enemies were cowards?
