I support more realistic weapons.
So do I. Fortunately there is going to be at least one realistic sword in DAI:

It's also practically the only thing that is somewhat realistic in this pic...and the way Cassandra is holding it, it appears to be made of aluminium... ![]()

I want more realistic weapons, too. not necessarily because being 'realistic' makes them better but because I find realistic swords much more beautiful than the anime-esque swords.

Hoping they don't bring back something as ugly as Hayder's Razor. What an atrocious POS that thing was.

I always loved how most of Dark Souls weapons looked. It had a lot of weapons based off of real designs that looked nice and sleek, while also having more fantasy-ish designs that looked more unique.

I prefer weapons to have a functional appearance in my fantasy games. Many vanilla Skyrim weapons looked cumbersome and unbalanced, especially the Ebony and Nordic forged ones.

Wait nordic sword you mean nordic swordI prefer weapons to have a functional appearance in my fantasy games. Many vanilla Skyrim weapons looked cumbersome and unbalanced, especially the Ebony and Nordic forged ones.

One of the most realistic simple and still good looking swords in skyrim, the finest example of how weapon should look like
Other weapons sucked tho
But back to the topic
I think this topic should be named: Weapons that used to work in DA:I?
But if you really want to replace every weapon by its historical equivalents, then i must say no
I want to have more simple looking weapons in DA
But i also want to have elemental based weapons ingame
Like sword made out of ice. And then i dont care about realism if it looks good and not ridiculous

BioWare got weapon designs just about perfect in NWN. Then they did a faithful recreation of Star Wars weapons in KotOR. And then they gave us the giant abonimations of DAO and DA2.
I very much hope they return to human-sized weapons, rather than the giant-sized weapons the Warden and Hawke used.

No. Weirder and weirder swords. I want a sword that looks like a robots arm.

I didn't quite like the absurdity of SOME of the DA2 ones but I don't want a bunch of basic looking boring ass blades :/

I agree, the two handed weapons have been just awful so far. More realistic weapons would be a huge positive change. On the same line of thought, more realistic combat animations would be a good idea, rather than backflipping rogues and jumping around with huge two handed swords.

other than the width for a lot of the two handed swords they weren't that far off. many zweihanders and claymores were between 5 feet and 6 feet. given the time they were made the average height was close to around 5'6"-5'"8 I would say the two handed swords are roughly the right length.

I really hope there's a form of a holster to hold your greatsword(or staff) instead of it just dangling on your back.

If swords for the inquisitor are in the same art department as Cassandra's one then I am all happy.

Just less of those basic "dwarf swords" from Origins that were boring as hell.
Extravagance in blades comes from the hilt/pommel area, not the blade itself usually:

I have the same stance with axes. Hell, look at what the LOTR guys did with Gimli... he has like 3 different axes that are all unique looking without being excessive.

Where did you find that screenshot? And is that a sheath for the upper portion of the sword or is it just me?
