I love the new forums.

So many amazing changes!

The arrangement of the threads is a lot easier to follow.

However I do have a few questions.

  1. How do I change the text background? The old background had white text and dark grey background. Highlights were in orange. I found this a little easier on the eyes. The other reason I like the old text background is, well nostalgia.

  2. Spell checkers. This is probably just an issue with my laptop as I had the same issue with the old forums. Every time I spell words like "armour" or "colour" the spell checker insists that I've misspelled the word and offers an american spelling instead. Is there a way to change to a British English spell checker?

  3. Hyperlinks to the old forum: A number of compilation threads send out links to the previous Bioware Social Network forums. How long will the old forums be up for. This is a big deal as there are quite a few compilation threads with a great many.

  4. Are Polls Back? I see the words "Manage Topic Poll". How does that work? If polls are back then I'm excited. Very excited. I loved creating polls on the previous forum.

  5. Does anyone know where I can read the new rules? I assume like the "Legacy Forum" there are rules that us forum contributors must follow. Please could you send me a hyperlink?

  6. Who are the current moderators? The old forums had a list of the moderators for each section of the forums. Does this forum have such a list? If so, please could you send me a hyperlink?

  7. Will it be possible for a thread creator to delete their own thread? Let's say a thread has been locked down, or a thread creator wishes to remove their own thread from the forums. Will this be possible?

  8. Deleting posts from a thread: Will it be possible to delete a post altogether? I know on the old forums, the best one could hope for is editing the post with the words "post removed" or replacing the old post with a completely new one.

  9. Pinned, Hot? What do they actually mean? The old forums had this too. Does "Hot" mean that the thread has received a lot of posts recently? Does "Pinned" mean the moderators have deemed the thread to be important thus placing that thread to the top of the list of threads?

  10. Advertising and Viruses: In the years to come, will the forum be full of adverts for non-Bioware products, flooding the forums with pop-ups (some of which carry dangerous viruses and spyware). Most of the forums I've visited do this and it angers me. A lot.  Bioware's forums haven't gone down this route and for this I am grateful.

  11. Protection against hackers: If someone hacks into your Bioware account, changes your password (so you can't access it) and uses it to spread vitriol in your name, how can one combat this phenomena? I have heard stories of people losing their jobs as a result of unsavory information being spammed on Facebook and Twitter by hackers.

Yes! Losing their jobs! So many professionals these days close all their social media accounts in fear that this could happen.

  12. Combating Bullies: Facebook and Twitter have become places where people choose vulnerable individuals and bully them to the point of suicide. What measures are in place to ensure this doesn't happen on these forums?

Eight out of twelve questions can be answered if you just read the available documentation on the forum (protip: scroll down on the forum overview).

The last the questions are answered via common sense.

The only real question I see here is the spellcheck one (we have spellcheck?) and here I'd have to assume tough luck, as the forum is based in NA, american english is the way it's going to be.

There is no forum supported way to change the colour cheme, although BioWare has noted that there has been a lot of complaints about the colour scheme and said they'll look into it. Until then, check out this thread for some addons for Firefox and Chrome that let you override it.

My spell check also did the same thing, which you can change in the browser. If you are using Chrome, right click in any text box and go to "Spell-checker options". From there you can change the languages. Not sure how the other ones are set up.

Other than that, I would recommend looking through the About section at the top as it answers some of your questions.
