So, we've proven ourselves and the Arishok says the words.
Now I have two mages, Jared and Merrill, A rogue, Verric and Aveline.
No matter what I try we get creamed, fast.
ANy suggestions?

It's hard for me to remember but if meredith is chasing varric you should keep moving him around. I don't know what is creaming you but I think it's a winnable battle with your party especially if you have the revive spell. Sorry I'm not an expert on the game.

Oh, your talking about the Arishok battle? With the group battle? I thought you were talking about the final battle in the game.

Mages > Rouges > Warriors
That's the difficulty of defeating Arishok in single combat, mages are the easiest.

In the group battle, take out the Saarebas (mages) first. They are by far the most dangerous things in that battle.

This. If you're a mage, you should try to fight the Arishok in single combat. It's much easier to do it that way than to fight his entire group. Check out the wiki for information on how to get him to duel you one-on-one, and on strategies for beating him.
If you're a Force Mage, you're golden. Gravitic Ring usually stops him dead in his tracks and you can safely snipe at him from afar for as long as it lasts. Just don't let him catch up to you: your low health means he can one- or two-shot you--he hits hard! Also, he's weak to cold and nature, so if you have either of those kinds of staffs, use them.
