Finally decided to go for a second playthrough with all the DLC, and intend to use the wonderful MEHEM and CEM projects which I'm excited about experiencing for myself (thanks in advance to the authors).

Trouble is I have no mass effect saves at all, from any of the 3 games, and don't want to spend time going through the first two again.

The obvious option would be to download something suitable from masseffectsaves.com, and use gibbed's editor for ME2 to tweak all the plot flags to my liking.

I would prefer to directly tweak an ME3 savegame (with the ME3 editor) and reimport, but not sure where to find any. But I'm wondering, is it possible to start a new game in ME3, save at some point after the intro and then edit, with appropriate checks for having completed the game - then import into a new game+?

Failing that, are there any places to download ME3 savegames directly to modify?

I don't think the NG+ save should be necessary for your plan or even an ME2 save from masseffectsaves.com.

Someone else may chime in but all that should really matter is getting a game started and editing the save to have the values you want checked off from ME1 and ME2 which gibbed should allow you to do. At least ME2 stuff but I think the ME1 tab is there as well. An autosave may even generate the moment you finish creating your characters so you can talk to Kaidan or Ashley depending on your preference.

If you're still stuck or my above info is wrong let me know. I know I have some NG+ saves I could provide and I'm sure there are plenty of others out there.

And hey, thanks. I'm glad CEM is fun for you.

Wow, thanks for the reply - it'll be a while before I get to try CEM - going to save it all for after the ending.

I'll try creating a new character (probably tomorrow) and seeing if I can edit the initial autosave. I was worried about missing out on things in the intro doing it this way - dialogue with Anderson and so on, but if it's early enough then it might be ok.

If you have any trouble let me know. When I get home I'll confirm but I think you can start the game and when the intro movie starts, just alt tab out and make sure the autosave is there. Kill the game, set it the way you want, and then the game should work properly; i.e. you use gibbed to say that you completed the Arrival DLC and then Anderson will respond to that accordingly.

I'm pretty sure not everything is available via gibbed, i'd advise working on the base of an ME2 endgame import save or an ME3 trilogy save, then you can customize what is manipulable and the little details that aren't would still be covered. Kinda depends on how muhc you care though, I mean, as Deager said, you should be able to check on/off all mayor events and a bunch of smaller ones as well, it just won't detail all the sidequests.

Execllent, I'm not bothered about every little detail so it should be fine with just picking most of the main sidequests - I know the ME2 editor had options for a lot of them, but I've not looked at the ME3 editor at all.

Will try that initial autosave method when I get around to it and report back. EDIT: Probably be the weekend at this rate.

Ok after trying different ways I decided to first tweak and import an ME2 save because it saves a lot of hassle/guesswork trying to edit a new ME3 save with previous decisions. Then I've made any final adjustments to the ME3 save - checking plot flags are correct and adjusting things where necessary.

Thanks for the help - I know it seems a trivial thing but it's good to get confirmation and peace of mind to enjoy the game. :)
