entirely different team

AFAIK, both teams tend to have members that go back and forth on franchises. Some work on DA:I but will be sent to ME:N, for example.

Could be wrong but I think that's how it works.

Obviously the showrunners at the top are relatively static.

The games are not comparable for me.  ME3 was a trilogy with one main character that people had a lot invested in.  The DA situation is pulling in different heros for each game and are semi different story arcs.

CD Projekt RED is the new golden standard anyway. So no skin off my nose.

It wouldn't disappoint me as much if it ends up being bad as ME3 for the simple fact that the protagonist is exclusive to the game. The real heartbreaking thing about ME3 was that it not only was the lesser of the 3 games, but the finale to a character that you built for the past 2 games.

Then it isn't good, simple.

As for me, Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 weren't that bad. Sure, they have issues (and some of them cringeworthy), but they are good games nonetheless. And for all my years in gaming I know better than to hold a grudge against Bioware. It's good - I buy it, it's bad - I don't even bother playing (though I have yet to live up to a day, when BW completely screws up it's game). So far I like what I see, and look forward to seeing more of DA:I.

This is EA folks this game is bound to be bug ridden on release with day 1 dlc and some form of tacky multiplayer. Ill buy the game a year afters its release regardless though. TW3 will keep me occupied till then.

Ah, is that right? I will trust you on this, for I don't really know enough about it to dispute you, and far to notoriously lazy to find out more. Thank you for the correction, sir.

Well, if it's "another ME3", it'll be flawed yet very enjoyable. I will be pretty happy, replay the game 6 times, and continue to be satisfied with Bioware's products.

But, to answer the real question, if I don't enjoy DAI, I will be disappointed, but then I will just keep living my life. If other people like it, good for them. No use dwelling on it or swearing off Bioware's games forever.

If anything, I would try to provide useful feedback. I certainly wouldn't complain about "EAware" betraying my trust or anything like that.

I liked Mass Effect 3, I didn't like the endings before the EC or the DLC that explained them a bit better. But with the addition of the Citadel DLC, and playing through the entire trilogy again... I'm okay with it all :) I actually liked Dragon Age 2, the only things I didn't like were the reused terrains and I felt the romances were a bit... forced. But that's it. Naturally, I loved DA:O, SWKOTOR I and II. Only thing I didn't like about the latter two is how Revan and the Exile just poofed! I know what happens to them, but jeez.

.................ME3 was a great game, I'm sure DAI will be as well. I'm probably one of the few people that genuinely liked the endings of ME3.

If it's not good (based on the feedback), then I won't buy it, just like DA2.

If it's like ME3(no, not just the ending, most of the game sucked imo) and DA2 then it will be time to move on for me. There's no point in playing games I don't like that are built for and marketed to a different audience just because I like the games a company USED to make. It seems like the supply of games that fit my tastes are drying up more each year. Story based games are becoming very short and most no longer give you the ability to create a character or roleplay. Instead it's all about action, cinematics, combat, online social components, and not having to figure out where to go or what to do. I might continue to find games out there that I like but I might not. It will be a sad day for me when I can no longer enjoy BW games, when a disappointing game isn't just a fluke but the new standard for a new audience.

Inquisition looks promising at the moment, if it's disappointing like ME3 was I'll write off the DA series like I did ME. Bioware would still have at least one IP I'd care about in that case, Jade Empire.

I wonder if anyone had the same thoughts before saw The Phantom Menace.

I'll pirate it first and if it's a significant improvement over DA2 or as good as DA:O I'll buy it.

I'm very skeptical about DAI after the horrible failure of DA2 though.

Yeah, just found a much better picture to illustrate the problem. Edited my post accordingly, obviously.

If Inquisition ends up becoming Dragon Age's "Mass Effect 3", what will you do? Will you still have faith in Bioware?

I'm not asserting it'll be good or it won't be good, just curious.

As for myself, if DA:I flops as badly as ME3 did, I think by then I'd lose hope in Bioware's future installments.

If DAI "flops" the way ME3 did, I'll be quite happy.

If it was actually bad, I'd mostly be surprised.

So, in your scenario,  of asking what would happen if  DAIII would be a failure if it were to be made like ME3.....You would have to pay for dlc to understand the beginning of DAIII like with that Arrival episode for ME3.  They would make us pay an extra $20 for a signature edition to get a companion which would explain a great deal of Dragon Age culture; like with the Promethean companion in ME3.  Then they would withhold the one final scene that makes sense unless we heavily invest into playing their multiplayer; such as the final scene of Shepard taking a large breath in the rubble if you chose the destroy option.  And then, we the fans, will be waiting for two more months for the dlc that give us any semblance of any ending whatsoever, even though it contradicts the final sequences of the original ambiguous ending.

What are the odds they would do that again?

If you are curious but wary, wait for the reviews. If you consider a cautious purchase, go with the cheapest version.

CD Projekt RED is the new golden standard anyway. So no skin off my nose.

I don't really agree - I should like the Witcher because ticks so many boxes for me and yet I don't. It's control system, inventory management and menu system are a nightmare and the story is not intriguing enough to help me get past that. I've tried Witcher 1 & 2 and I'm eyeing up 3 it looks so interesting but if is has the same interface as the last 2 then I know it'll be a non stater for me.

As for Bioware - I loved ME3, its the only video game that made me well up - Mordin and saying farewell to Liara. The original ending fell a bit flat but it was improved and honestly ending something like ME is very difficult. The Citadel DLC is fantastic.  And despite the copy paste cave; I really enjoyed DA:2.

So if DA:I is like ME3 that would mean its a great game with a lack luster ending; which wouldn't be a perfect situation but it wouldn't make me like Bioware any less.

So far:

Seems to me they've improved DA2's crap action-combat system, they might be working DA2's crap dialogue-wheel system into something I can tolerate better.

Everything I actually did like about DA2 they seem to be keeping & probably improving on.

Other things look very interesting: strongholds, agents, new system of crafting, environmental "reactivity" through Frostbite, mounts, oh and the return of (Exploration) skills.

I'm so far very much liking most of what I'm seeing. I think it's pretty obvious I was disappointed by DA2, but it sounds to me like they learned from many mistakes, plus they aren't rushing this one.

CD Projekt RED is the new golden standard. Not simply because of the quality of the games themselves, but rather the combination of quality and post-launch support.

Both the inventory and menu system were completely rehauld in a patch. All DLC they release is free. And we're not talking horse armor here, but actual fleshed out quests. When the game was re-released on the Xbox it came packed with the OST, a map and a actual game guide, plus it was cheaper than your normal retail game.

Also, the reason why ME3 failed wasn't because of it's lackluster ending, but because Bioware ultimately failed to realise why people were actually drawn to the ME franchise. The main story was always good, but never great. The game was made by it's superb cast of characters. ME3 didn't give enough room for its characters, add that to the rather shabby written dialogue that occasionally plague the game and most of the magic is lost.

I agree that DA:2 wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Sarcastic fem hawke is one of the most hilariously written game protagonist to date and for that alone it's worth playing.
