If it isn't good?

Also, the reason why ME3 failed wasn't because of it's lackluster ending, but because Bioware ultimately failed to realise why people were actually drawn to the ME franchise. ME main story was always good, but never great. The game was made by it's superb cast of characters. ME3 didn't give enough room for its characters, add that to the the rather shabby written dialogue that occasionally plague the game and most of the magic is lost.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

ME3 was not a flop it is probably Bioware's best selling game.

I've never really had "faith" in Bioware, per se.

I just buy the games within the series that I enjoy. If they are good, then that's cool. If they are not cool, then everybody makes mistakes.

Their product is just another product to me.

What are you looking at their behinds for? There's a genuine pirate on that picture!

And eventually, I noticed him.

It took a while.

Superb cast of characters? Since much of ME2 revolved around character's quests perhaps you're right to some extent. But in ME1 the main focus was turned to exploration, characters progression was nothing special in my opinion and still people loved the game even more than ME2 and 3

Isn't it a bit too early for this kind of thread? Whether it rocks your socks or just plain sucks, we have no reason to lean towards one or the other just yet.

On a side note, ME3 wasn't a flop. The ending certainly fell short in several places, but the game as a whole was fun to play.

Considering that ME3 didn't flop, and I loved the game in it's entirety, I'm stoked for DA:I. I think it's going to be a great game.

I'm not going to assume that the game will be like ME3.  I do like what DG has done in the past and if I'm wrong, I'll decide then.

And why was that? The Mass Effect franchise had built up a fan base because of its first two games (both Game of the Year, I think,) and both gamers and the game industry were eagerly awaiting the third installment.

Mass Effect 4 will not have those advantages--many gamers will wait for user reviews before they buy it, and people thinking about getting into Mass Effect with the fourth game will be reading about how the ending of the previous title "polarised" the fans, and how the studio released a free DLC to try to fix it.

While it sold well, it also pooped on the franchise and tried to flush it.

I yet to buy a Bioware game I did not like. I liked DA2. I am going to purchase the Mass Effect Trilogy. As far as EA games being bug ridden I have yet to see any game released that was not bu ridden. I need only to look at the Elder Scroll and Witcher games to point that out.

I watched the ending to Mass Effect 3. I liked it. Compared to the ending of Oblivion and other game endings. DA2 game ending was better than Oblivions main quest ending.

I also do not let other people's opinion affect what I buy. It is my money I decide how I am going to spend it. If the game interests me I will purchase it. Bioware DA games will always be a pre-order for me. Very few developers make good party based games.

To quote Khalil Gibran, "Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life." I would say that extends to most things, gaming included. I  have always enjoyed Bioware's games. I have thought some were better than others, but I have enjoyed them all. So I personally have a positive attitude about DAI and I am looking forward to it.   What's good is subjective. If the game was about eight hours worth of gaming and I paid 60 + bucks. I would be unhappy. But I can say with all confidence that will not be the case. As far as living up to my expectations? I see each installment as being it's own piece of art. I would be a bit disappointed if it mirrored DAO or DA II. But not so angry that I would start hurling insults or throw a tantrum on the forum or another social networking site. I believe constructive criticism can be good, if it's objective. JMHO

If Inquisition ends up becoming Dragon Age's "Mass Effect 3", what will you do? Will you still have faith in Bioware?

I'm not asserting it'll be good or it won't be good, just curious.

As for myself, if DA:I flops as badly as ME3 did, I think by then I'd lose hope in Bioware's future installments.

For me, DAI is the last chance. If it fails to deliver, then there will be no purchases

baring the Bioware logo for me, period.

I abandoned the Mass Effect franchise entirely and have no interest in

picking it up again-so unlike others, my threat isn't idle. I will keep active

in the fandom though, it's a gold mine for entertainment.

Let me tell you something, pendejo. Of course it's my opinion. Do I need to label everything I write with, "Duh, my opinion"?

If DAI is as good as ME3 it would be more than enough.

Like ME3--so a good game? Okay...

But I'll go with your title. "Good" is a completely subjective statement (if my previous statements didn't make that clear).

And, Bioware's never let me down, I see little reason to doubt them.

IT WILL BE GOOD.

In all seriousness, the game would have to be uber crap, like, really really REALLY, worse than anything ever made before kinda crap for me to just say: nope. never again.

This is EA folks this game is bound to be bug ridden on release with day 1 dlc and some form of tacky multiplayer. Ill buy the game a year afters its release regardless though. TW3 will keep me occupied till then.

Yes, because only EA games are bug ridden and it's not like DAO, which was done before EA got on the scene had NO bugs at all, including BG2, right?

Oh wait..........

A lot of people were talking that way though after DAII. "If ME3 sucks like DAII, I'm ditching Biower!" So either they meant it and they're gone already anyway, or they didn't and Bioware doesn't really have that much to worry about.

Besides, it looks like the developers truly want to create and deliver the best experience they possibly can. No producer is going to set out trying to sabotage their own project. So whether it is bad, or good, is a matter of opinion, and if anything comes down to the decisions at crunch on what to keep/cut.

You know, there is this trend going on in gaming culture right now where people tend to do the opposite of what everyone around them says.

For example, there was the War Z game, now titled Infestation, that was basically a terribly crappy game that had its developers outright lie and belittle their fanbase with actual insults when concerns about gameplay issues, and written promises on their website, came up. People still bought into the MMO because of word of mouth, "you won't believe this game, its so bad you need to play it."

I foresee a large number of the fanbase either following suit in this vein, picking up the game despite any proclamations to the contrary, or a bunch of people picking up the game because they heard it had a divisive ending to it. It's much like any other fanbase out there really, it's not going to slow down sales at all.

The more I read about folks raging against ME3, the happier I am that I didn't get into the series. I'll give it a shot, next time there's a good sale for it, but I'm glad I'm going into the series knowing about the ME3 ending.

As a side note: Does Steam typically have the ME series up or should I check with Origin?

I also enjoyed DA2 and I'm glad I picked it up.  If it wasn't for ToR, I would have never even heard of the series.  While DA2 was extremely weak in some areas (like the damned maps,) I thought it had some of the best characters in the Dragon Age games thus far.  I also, thankfully, ignored everyone that told me it was one of the worst games they'd ever played.   While I do believe that player feedback/reviews can be useful, it can also set up an expectation, either for success or failure.

I used to be a fan of certain companies and would buy their product almost mindlessly.  Growing up, I was a huge Square fan, starting with FF1 in 1990.  I'd buy anything Final Fantasy related for years.  I enjoy the games, including the reviled X-2, and I thought that the games would remain interesting to me.  In time, however, company loyalty came back to bite me in the ass.  Square's games went one way, and apparently I had gone another. The result is that I have Final Fantasy XII and XIII unbeaten and untouched for years.  So I don't have company loyalties anymore.  I do have brand loyalty and as long as the product is good, I'll continue to buy it.

I'm in the minority it seems: I plan on getting the Collector's Edition for DA:I.  Even if the game is sub par (which I highly doubt,) I won't consider it a waste of my money provided I have fun with it.  The cost of a CE doesn't bother me, since the last time I bought a CE it was WoW: Cataclysm...which I played for a whopping 4 months before I quit WoW in disgust.  I know that Inquisition is going to be better than that.
