Would you like to see your Warden and Champion back in Dragon Age 3 if they did it this way...?

Okay, there has been lots of talk and views about seeing our Warden's and Champion's (Hawke's) in Dragon Age 3. A few don't want to see them at all, looks like most just want them to be mentioned / talked about but not seen and only a few of us want to see them again.

A lot of people are worried that if our Warden's and Champion's come back that they will loose the personalities we gave them. I completely understand why people don't want that to happen (I wouldn't either) but I was just interested to know what you guys thought of this idea.

What if our Warden and Champion came back and in cut scenes we could also control what they said along with our new character? I very much doubt our old characters will be joining our party (although I would love to have that happen (providing I can still control what they said also) but if we where able to control what the Warden and Champion could say we wouldn't loose their personalities that we gave them would we because we would still be in control of them?

What does anyone else think of this idea and does anyone else have other ideas or hopes of what they would like to see in the third game?

Edit: Guys would you also try and stay on topic and not add in conversations that is nothing to do with this topic please? Also as someone has elegantly said, can there not be any "bitching" on here either please? I really (and I'm sure others will agree) don't want to put up with bad manors, rudeness and plain annoying off topic subjects. I'm sure there are other forums who don't mind putting up with that. Thank you :).

Can't we just stick to one Warden/Hawke thread?

It would be strange to control two characters, and it would probably confuse the hell out of new players who would have no idea why they were suddenly making choices for what would seem like random NPCs.

I'd rather be able to set the Warden and Hawke's personalities from the Keep.  Still, I'll be ok with a default Hawke and Warden, provided their actions fit nice into the story.

There's a Warden/Hawke thread? If you mean just add this to someone else's thread then no not really because it wont be seen.

Basically this. Man, am I getting sick of these topics.

I don't think controlling two characters would work. That would be like talking to yourself, and kind of take you out of the immersion. Plus, even giving the Warden a voice actor would already upset a lot of people. And maybe people don't want them to appear there and then (in the game) because in their headcanon, their Hawke and the Warden could be getting drunk in the Hanged Man, fighting Darkspawn in the Deep Roads or getting sucked into the Fade when a Veil tear opens up just below Isabela's ship or something. Or they could be dead.

It's not going to happen.

So many Hawke/Warden threads!

Anyway, I think the developers said if Hawke and Warden appear then we won't be able to control them. It would also be pretty odd if we could. I'd foresee lots of "Why am I controlling this random dude/lady's dialogue..?" from newbies.

I guess it might throw some new players off, do you think it would really seam that complicated?

Yeah, if they do come back I trust that BioWare have done a good job and fit them in well in the story :)

As long as I can control my Wardens and Hawkes, I would be happy to see them return.

(This is assuming there will be a solution for the Keep on offline consoles. Otherwise, my Wardens/Hawkes would not "exist" in DAI anyway.)

Hopefully neither the Warden or Hawk return in DAI as anything other than honorable mention. Honestly, I don't see it as their story at this point. This is about the inquistor and thus should be focused solely on his or her acts.

I really do think it would confuse the **** out of new players.  Imagine if you're playing a game, and all of a sudden you're making decisions as both of the characters in a conversation.  We would know the importance of Hawke and the Warden, but some random dude/chick/chickdude that picked the game up would only the two characters as historically important people.  They'd have no other connection to them.

I was thinking that Bioware could do an expansion pack or DLC where we play as the Warden (original or Orleasian depending on DAO ending choices) with Hawke as a companion. The Warden could be silent, and Hawke's personality could be the most dominant conversation type used in DA: II. We could see what their up to, and we get to hang out with them once again. It doesn't have to be a full game and what their doing could indirectly impact Inquisition.

That's a good idea. If done correctly that could possibly work.

Yea it would be cool but it could be quite confusing for new people, I guess it could work if we controlled Hawke/Warden in seperate segments, and Bioware could use these segments to determine our characters personalities. But apparenty Bioware said this wouldn't happen :/

They will look nothing like my Warden and Hawke though, it would be impossible to recreate them.

Yeah could do it that way. Would be brilliant to play with them again. It's a shame they wont or do something similar :crying:. But I do understand why, they have to be careful and not upset to many people.

No, let them live their lives in peace, they deserved it.

Well in my case, may one of them rest in peace.

I've seen some pictures of the new look on buildings and whatnot, I think they look great but to be honest, I am slightly worried in how they will make the characters look as well. Do you think they have drastically changed? If so, I hope it looks decent.

Both of them have already disappeared, that suggests their not living in peace just yet. Their era has to die first.

Disappeared means they don't want to be found, no? Respect it.

It's not always black and white like that, for both of them disappearing is a bit more than a coincidence and with BioWare saying there's a chance we may see them in the third game also indicates that their story isn't over. Those very words were even used at the end of Dragon Age Origins AND Awakening so there's too much showing that their still trying to save the world. Besides, the're hero's, why would hero's want to just stand by and watch as things go to hell? They wouldn't. They would most likely feel obligated either to help or at least try and stay a live. They can't have a peaceful life just yet, possibly until their either in their golden years or dead. You may have to accept that.

I think it's funny that a lot of people support the disappearance of our previous heroes because they say it's consistent with what they're hero would do.

Well guess what? My Hawke and Warden were actual heroes who actually gave a crap about their responsibilities and beliefs. It would be entirely out of character for my Warden to still not be Warden-Commander of Ferelden, or for my Hawke to not be at Andoral's Reach with the rest of the mages. If they aren't there, should I throw a fit about how Bioware is invalidating my choices and retconning their previous games?

Headcanon is apparently sacred, after all.

Here here! I completely agree with you. Mine is the same, mine are also true hero's and would not just sit back and also I would like my characters to relax and have a normal life every now-and-then but also still be a hero and save the world.

Again I agree with you about some people throwing a fit about their choices. In these situations some do get a bit selfish (which can be understandable because it's their game experience and so on) when it comes to these things but they have to keep in mind, BioWare has to try and please EVERYONE as much as they can. That is a difficult job because we're all so different, we all want different things. They have to try and find a happy medium for us all to like something in the games.

Controlling all previous protagonists would be one way to do it justly, but I think it's a clunky approach.

It would bascially being talking to yourself.
