I think it would be awesome if there are different voices for every race and gender. That probably won't happen and I'm totally cool with that. Knowing I can be an elf again and a Qunari is more than enough for me.

Agreed. While I would like there to be a different voice for each race-gender combination, I'm fine with the 4 or even 2 only since I can play as different races again.

I hope they announce the voice actors soon. Throw me a bone!

I don't see why they wouldn't have 8 different voices all together, swtor had 16 voiced PC 8 male and 8 female. That was made by bioware and they were able to do all that for a game more than 2 years ago. Why not now?
How often did the main character speak in SWTOR? I can't remember since it's been a while since I've played, but I don't think it's as much as our PC will speak.
Of course, then there's also the fact that SWTOR is an MMO, which means it had a larger budget as the game continued to earn money through subscriptions (though now they just use in game transactions and DLC to earn more money).
So you're kind of comparing apples and oranges with those two.

The MC in SWTOR speaks surprisingly often for an MMO.

The main character talks a lot in SWtOR. Though they do have a horrid habit of using some standard lines repeatedly, which I really wouldn't want to see DA take up.

They'll probably use 2 VAs, and adjust the treble and pitch through code to make the voices higher or lower.

All they need to do is hire two VAs, one male and one female who have a lot of vocal range really.

I'm assuming they'd have a fixed voice for each race, so one male and one female for Human, Dwarf, Elven and Qunari. Can't see using the same voice actor for all the races as a good idea, unless they're pretty damned clever with the editing/pitch of it.
This right here, this is my biggest fear, I've never been a fan of that Monty Python-esque French accent they've got going on in Orlais... I can only hope it's very much improved.
Strange, that's my greatest hope for my inquisitor. I want my qunari Inquisitor to have the thickest Orlesian accent possible.

Yep, me neither ... I mean, I have no problem if some NPCs have that accent; I just have trouble taking characters seriously who talk like that.
But I actually don't think that the PC will have it. The human male Inquisitor in the demo didn't, anyway, and also there have already been several in-game jokes about this over-the-top Orlesian accent ...

I don't think DA and SWTOR will be comparable when it comes to the voice achting. Or at least, I hope not. I felt the voice acting in SWTOR to be a bit bland, really.
Really? I loved the voice acting in swtor specifically my main Jedi knight who I'm pretty sure was voiced by the guy who does snake. (98% sure)
@artemismoons
I was actually surprised by how much va content was in swtor and it's true from that earlier post that there are some repeated lines but it was still pre good. As for the budget you could be right, but inquisition has to be a big thing for bioware and ea, why wouldn't they throw money at it.

This guy can make multiple voices...maybe Bioware should hire him...if he can do that, he can cast the whole characters in DA:I

I'm also not sure that paying one guy (or gal) to do different voices for each race would actually be cheaper than hiring four different ones. (I mean, it might be, depending on how they get paid, but I don't think we have access to that information.)

A badass Qunari Inquisitor with a thick French accent... Actually, that does sound pretty amazing.

If they had the resources it would be awesome for the player to choose from 3 voices like saints row 3 did.

It doesn't matter how much range they have. Voice actors are paid by the line. Having one actor read a line 4 different ways should cost about the same as having four actors read the line once each.
To reduce costs, I imagine any differences will have to be added in post-production.

I think people have some high expectations when it comes to the Voices in DA:I. I would be incredibly surprised if there were a different voice for each race. I think it is much more likely that they have 1 male and 1 female voice actor with any effects added on in post production.

Dragon's Dogma had 6 voice sets and only 2 voice actors for a female character and it worked out really well, so i don't see why they can't do that for Inquisition.

I'm not sure how they're going to handle the VAs for our PCs, but if they do decide on multiple actors, I'm really hoping they choose Lani Minella (Bakura in ME3) to voice the femQunari Inquisitor. She would be positively perfect.

I'd be quite happy if there were a couple of different voice options for the female Inquisitor and male Inquisitor. That way if you don't like the first you could try the second.
I think the right VO could do a voice that can easily be used for all races. The voice Gideon Emery used for Fenris and Grey DeLisle (?) used for Velanna seem like they could be used for any race, so something similar to that could work.
Dragon's Dogma had 6 voice sets and only 2 voice actors for a female character and it worked out really well, so i don't see why they can't do that for Inquisition.
The Arisen didn't actually speak outside of battle commands though, so it would presumably be considerably cheaper than voicing a character that has a lot of dialogue and varying dialogue choices.

I think there's going to be only two.
They'll just make the elf voice squeaky and the Qunari voice deep in post-processing.

I was talking about the pawns, they spoke around the same amount as the party banter.
