I want a deep voice. I'll voice it myself

The Qunari PC seems least likely to fit with one voice actor with the rest. Accents aside, all Qunari and Tal'Vashoth we've seen have a different speech pattern than everyone else. Presumably because Qunlat is their native tongue.

I think there's going to be only two.
They'll just make the elf voice squeaky and the Qunari voice deep in post-processing.
If that's the case, they should not assign them automatically by race. They should let us choose.

I hope that we get 4 sets of voices to match all the races. It would be weird if dwarves (mostly deep voices) had the same voice as elves (soft voices). I can't really think how one voice could match all races without making it so neutral that they might as well have kept a computer voice in. But I could be proven wrong, I suppose.
Another cool thing would be if we could pick which of the four we'd like. For example, if they have a soft voice that was meant mostly for elf characters, you could still pick it for your human or even qunari character.

I cannot imagine why we wouldn't have that option, if there are in fact multiple voices from which to choose.
I like to play against type. I remember how disappointed I was when I first played Mass Effect and I heard Shepard speak, since I had designed a character around being soft-spoken and overly fastidious (it was my first voiced-protagonist game).

Hopefully that is the case. But in DAO (though your character's voice wasn't that important since you only hear him talk in combat), the voices were restricted by race.

I agree,I'd prefer If we could choose a tone at least, between a soft spoken and a louder, more aggressive voice type.

Although I would love the option of multiple voices, I don't see why we would need them. The only thing that would make any difference would be where the Inquisitor is from, which may give him an accent. Still, one voice per gender regardless of race would allow for more dialogue overall.

And I complained about that long before release. When the game was in development, I asked for the voice sets to be unrestricted even by gender.

I'm trying to imagine a m!Qunari and human male having the same voice and it's not going over well in my head.

It would mean that they'd have to get each voice actor to voice all the lines, whereas if they were limited by race they wouldn't have to duplicate race specific lines.
edit: I think there are voices that could fit all races well. Fenris proves that Elves don't need to be high pitcheed

Then hopefully we'll be able to pick this time ![]()

I can see the Qunari and Dwarves sharing a voice actor: Both groups talk in an American accent, usually.
IF the Elf is city Elf, then a British accent could be used for both humans and elves. But if it's a Dalish Elf, they really need their own voice actors.

They could also just say they all come from human lands and have British accents, make the Qunari and Dwarf accents more gruff in post processing, it works in the Sims, don't see why it can't work in DAI.
I never got why BioWare made accents racially based instead of geographical, it doesn't make sense.

It makes sense if a race is isolated from others in area so they wouldn't pick up the local accent. The Dalish and the Dwarves have little contact with outsiders so their accent will not necessarily be the same as other accents in the same location.
I'm betting that the Inquisitor will have a more neutral accent so that he/she could be from anywhere.
Accents are tricky things and they don't necessarily indicated where a person is from or where they live - my Mam is from Northern Ireland but has lived in Dublin for over 30 years and has kept her Belfast accent; whereas her sister, who has moved to Australia, has picked up the Australian accent and now as a weird combo of a Belfast and Australian accent. I'm from Dublin and yet a large number of people who meet me think my accent is East Coast American or Canadian.

I hope we have several voices, eight would be ideal but doesn't seem feasible but four maybe? I would be fine if it were just one per gender though as long as they sound good since we have to listen to that voice for the entire game. I also hope the Dalish Inquisitor (I think they said the elven mage would be dalish) doesn't have the dalish accent that was introduced in DA2. I'm not sure why, but I really, really don't like it. I don't mind if they retcon it so long as I don't have to hear it out of my Inquisitor's mouth.

I actually really liked the Dalish Accent in DA2 but I think that is because a lot of them had Irish accents and I rarely get to hear an Irish accent in non-Irish media so I was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion.
If the Dalish Inquisitor has an Irish or Welsh accent; it would encourage me to roll one, even though I don't normally roll mages, just for the novelty of hearing an accent in a Video game that wasn't American or English and that so closely resembles the accent of some of the people around me IRL.
Of course as I said before I think they will give the Inquisitor as neutral an accent as possible.

Neutral is good. I always play mages (with the occasional rogue), preferably elven ones (though I'd rather it be an elven mage from the circle), but that accent would discourage me from playing as an elf. If it was a very weak accent, then maybe... but neutral is better.
I can understand wanting something other than an American/British accent but different people like (and dislike) different accents. A lot of people on these forums seem to dislike the Orlesian accent but it doesn't bother me at all. I wouldn't want to hear my own accent in a game though unless it was a very weak version of it.
