Did any of you play a certain game known as... Vampire: The Masquerade -- Bloodlines? You didn't? Oh, well, you're probably not going to get this. But hey! Never know. But those who did, you will probably remember one certain, special clan.

Unfortunately, Dragon Age's story breaks down if every NPC faints at the sight of you, so we* had to go with the Malkavians instead. Thus, behold! Did you ever want the Warden to, instead of speaking like the average commoner, to instead speak as though they were a multi-minded, nickname-enjoying, off-their-rocker, poetically-cryptic psychic** -- who in all honesty could barely be understood by the player themself until a replay?

If not, there is clearly something wrong with you.

For now, only effects the Harrowing (and still leaves some lines untouched), and being my first mod I'm expecting some hiccups. Hey, there's a reason I went with Alpha. Only effects dialogue, but later on I might try my hand at some hallucinations (would be much tougher than simple dialogue changes, however). It can be found at "Nexus Mods", but later on I might move it to a few other places (like BioWare's projects thing).

*I am a "we" now. It comes with writing Malkavian speech.

**They also liked dinosaurs.

Vampire the Masquerade was a great broken game by Troika and with current patches still being made, a great game with a lot of style, that still holds up due to its narrative & dialogue. The Malkav's were an interesting idea and provided much of the comedy, in a way channeling the menace of Ledger's Joker from Batman by about a decade. Apparently a World of Darkness MMO is being made by CCP games, the people that made Eve online. This idea would be addictive as hell to me. Wish Bioware would work with the concept, as the setting with Bioware's character design and narrative structure could be quite appealing, although they would have to deal with peoples expectations of the genre and it does represent a separate IP. Still with would neat if they could channel some of its aesthetics.

Good luck with the mods...

Alas, the WoD MMO probably isn't going to feature crazy Malkavian dialogue. A great loss, as I'm sure you'll agree. I'll be a bit disappointed if the clans don't all get something special outside of combat, though, especially Malkavians and Nosferatu (and partly Ventrue and Tremere for their Dominate power).

Thanks, good luck in whatever you do too,

Yeah, Video Game: Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a great game.

Your idea is nice but the lack of voiced reactions of the NPCs is an issue.

@above: As time goes on, I might be able to splice in the occasional odd comment. Obviously nothing major, but if anyone ever goes "What?" you can plop that in another place. That's a dangerous road, though, and too many times I've gone into a mod and such attempts have drawn me out immediately because I can recognise every soundclip and place it.

Whispers might be a bit more feasible, since I don't have to get the actual VAs or anything, I'd just need to whisper into my mic and figure out the specifics.
