Not really a fan of either designs to be honest. I liked the idea that cassandra was completely fierce in appearance but her eyes was what stood out in contrast to that aggressive aspect, now her eyes are just too intense in my opinion.
Varrics hair should've stayed the same honestly and his eyes are also strange, seems like theyre straying too far from the original look. "If its not broken, dont fix it"
Thats just one opinion though, how about you guys?

I don't like Varric's new hair color. As for Cassandra, I never liked how she looked. I'm not a fan of that short of hair on women.

I agree that they should tone Varric's hair back down
I do not have a problem with either of them. What made me like their characters in the first place (other than Varric's chest hair) were their voices. If they retain those, then all will be well.
I actually like Cassandra's design a great deal. With Varric, it's not that he looks bad, but some of that signature "dwarfness" is a bit lost in his face. He still has that very wide bridge, but his magnificent bastard chin is not as pronounced as it used to be. Obviously the hair is off but whatever. It won't matter if his personality is intact, however.
I love, love, love Cassandra's new looks, but, that may be because I'm sort of a Cassandra fangirl..
ANYWAYS, on Varric's hair change, I wonder if it's because his former hair color looked horribad in the new engine? *shudders to think what blond-ish Warden probably looks like*
Never found Cassandra attractive with her new design to begin with. It seems female warrior companions won't catch my eyes during a long time in DA lol. ( Aveline wasn't attractive either in DAII ) That said, about Cassandra, I really like that fierce appearance with her eyes. I can't wait to see the final result ig, I might change my mind.

They're not that radical a redesign considering the new engine and updated graphics.
Though Varric having a different hair colour is strange, he's very much the same, it's basically a nitpick.
Cassandra's face looked weird in the announcement trailer, as top left in the OP, but what I've seen of her in-game (top right) actually looks good. It reminds me of Isabela's face looking weird early on in DAII development but come the actual game was much better.
I like them!I'd prefer varric's hair to be at least a shade lighter.But overall They're fine.
The transition to a new engine has greatly benefited the looks of Cassandra and Varric, now they look more like real persons and much less like comic characters (/ which I really hated in DA2)
My only gripe is Cassandras neck, its too thin but otherwise I'm really happy they didn't screw up the strong female character of DAI - like ME3 Ashley-
It's not that bad, but BioWare is using a new engine so a redesign was ineviable.

Like others I think that Varric's hair color should be the lighter blonde he had in DA 2, and that he shouldn't be wearing armour.
I'm pretty sure some dev was talking about how he was unsure about keeping that color for Varric, so it might be changed. He doesn't look different to me though..??
Cassandra is one of those few characters that I'd have my femPC go gay for.

Well the outfits they wear are the players choice so it shouldnt be a problem
I agree with some of the above comments about Varric's hair colour, but it doesn't bother me a whole lot. I love how Cassandra looks though.

They look like they are missing one of those next-gen hair shaders... the difference in quality between the skin and hair is way too jarring.
Gaider wasn't too happy about the hair colour either. If he has his way, they'll tone back down. Cassandra looks fine. Varric on the other hand....wtf did they do to his hair?? He's a blondie! And his face...it hardly looks anything like the Varric we all know and love. That makes me sad.
I like them both, Varics hair might change since Gaider was looking at it and said as much and his eye color is just a quirk of how they captured it so it's still the same color.
I'm a big fan of the edible designs myself.

Yep, it's my opinion. Also now that you mention it, I'm not a fan of men with beards either.
I really like both designs.
