It'd be really interesting to see Cassandra take order from a Mage! Or her dialogue with Vivienne.

They do, but their talking about the older incident where the city's ruler tried to eject the Templars and was subsequently deposed by them, to be replaced by the Viscount we met in DA2
Damn.
How come everything bad always happens in Kirkwall?

Or it could be the effect of numerous weakened points in the veil throughout and around the city, promoting madness amongst the populace.

People didn't recognize Varric in the trailer? Cassandra maybe, but Varric? I mean, he had Bianca on him in his scene.
Yeah, right after trailer there were post like "was that Varric? He looks nothing like himself" and so on. I thought that Bianca made it pretty obvious who it was. I still remember my first reaction as I screamed "Bianca! Varric!!!!!" xD I'm a lurker with very good memory. But past is past and old BSN behind us, so I stop memorizing now ![]()

I actually really like them! I think Varric looks much better and Cassandra just looks bad ass!

And I don't want Cassandra as a love interest, cuz I ship her and Regalyan D'Marcall. Sure, it's been about twenty years and nothing's happened between them, but I can dream!
Don't know why people are complaining about Varric's hair color, since it hasn't really changed that much.

Um...

Nice strawberry blonde.

To dark auburn? And the devs have said they are undecided about the color. Why, I have no bloody idea at this point.

Figures that I love the redesign on both characters, other than Varric's hair (note: especially since the glowing eyes are just a quirk of the image capture.) It's just...nagging.

The fact that I can recognize them is a pretty good sign, now they just need some touching up.

The hair color isn't a big deal to me. If I find that it really bothers me somebody will have probably made a mod to change Varric's hair to blonde within 10mins of the game's release.
His face, however, seems really different to me and I don't like it. Seems to me that they're trying to make him look younger, handsome, and serious/damaged. That's just the impression I get. I'd have to see him talk more and do some other things than cry over a burning village to get a true sense of the new Varric.

Let's not Godwin the thread.
To be perfectly honest, discussing what you will or will not be bothered by regarding what may or may not be in mods is well beyond the scope of this thread. Cleaning up the thread.

I can agree with this in a, "I knew it was Varric right off, but wondered why someone got his hair wrong" sort of way.
Cassandra, though, I can't agree. in DA2 I was introduced to the character, I figured something along those lines only older, and probably scarred or having some mark of age. The next thing I saw of Cassandra was the movie, and, I had no idea it was supposed to be her until it was pretty much stated. Granted it's from an earlier time and she's younger. Then, of course, we get to DA:I and I have the same issue all over again. Until it was made perfectly clear, I couldn't tell from the image alone it was her. I thought it was a new character entirely, which was fine . . . until I figured out it was supposed to be an existing character that not looks almost completely different.
I'm still fine with the idea of a rugged character, I just don't see the point of changing existing characters to have vastly different facial and bone structures. I still stand by the idea that you don't turn a plain or pretty or beautiful character into something entirely different when you're trying to portray a new type. Instead you create a character that's actually of that type. It's why, in my mind, Aveline actually worked. She didn't need to be changed to what she was, she just 'was' . . . and she was awesome.
I'd be no less frustrated at the change if they'd changed Varric to look like a prissy little elf.

I like DA2 well enough, despite any flaws, but you hear constantly how people were frustrated at the style change and existing characters like Isabela, Merrill and Anders looking vastly different. The constant shift in art styles, and how characters look, in my opinion, is never a good thing. Pick a style. Stick with it. If this is really the way they're going with DA:I, fine, I can't change that, but for the love of whatever . . . stick with it. Don't just toss it out the window in the next game for another style, with another drastically different rendition of a character's (or multiple character's) visuals.

Well, I think the shift this time mainly has to do with switching engine, which I do not mind at all since it just seems to make the game look more impressive. I wasn´t a fan of the 'clean' look in DA2, so I'm quite happy that seems to be gone this time.

The DA2 style was iffy for me, I liked it, but I didn't like the way it made the characters faces look. Like your custimized characters.
I have really high hopes for this new engine, and I think it totally revamped Cassandra. The only thing I don't like is that she's covered in hearts because she doesn't strike me as that type (unless there's something I missing, in which case, please don't hold back) I think she looks incredible ![]()

DA2's character creator didn't really permit you to create the look they have for Cassandra in DA:I. You can widen the jaw and try to make the features like the cheekbones more pronounced, but they'll always be very soft around the edges. Creating a sharp look is about the details, not necessarily the entire shape of the head. The contours around her eyes and cheeks are more pronounced, having a more chiseled appearance. Adding to that her more aggressive gaze and she does have a more "pointed" appearance. Overall I think it's a good translation of the previous design, which was actually very easy to recreate in DA2 since it's just a few tweaks from one of the presets in the CC.
Could not agree more, I think they finally had the tools to translate the art design perfectly to the game. She looks beautiful and I cannot wait for the the banters and badass moves.
As for Varric, I am more neutral since he is not one of my favorites but the hair seems different.
