I like both. I think Cassanda looks cool, and Varric...I dunno, he used to look a bit like my brother, which made the bro-ness of his character more authentic to me. So I am a bit sad he no longer looks that way. Still he also looks pretty cool.
Your thoughts on Varric and Cassandras, redesign?

Varric needs shinier, blonde, hair, but that's all.
I love the way Cass looks.

Cassandra looks like a guy.
How? It is her red lips? Her high sculpted cheekbones? Her rounded face? Her almond shaped eyes? Her voice, which we know is strong but feminine?
Let me guess: You're one of those that found Aveline ugly too. ![]()

I've seen folks complain about that...and then turn around and start complaining about the over-sexualization of female characters in DA. Inevitably, someone will bring up the ME series when those comparisons start. It's pretty bad that I almost don't want to play ME, Skyrim or The Witcher thanks to everyone and their damned dog comparing DA to them.

What happened to Varric's gold bling? You know, his earrings and his necklace of gold? I'll miss Varric's golden reddish locks. Fix this and I'm good on this one.
Cassandra, don't like her new looks at all. She looked great in DA2. I know, new engine.
Don't like Morrigan's hair in her eyes. Fix that and I'm good. I went back and watched the E3 trailer of her. I guess it does look like she has aged in 10 years. I don't like the moles on her face, but can live with it. Claudia Black really does make her character with her voice. I do like the looks of her gown in her character guide. Very nice.
Edit: Oh, his concept art doesn't show his bling but he does have it on in screenshots. Ok, then. I guess I need new glasses.

I hated Morrigan's hair in her eyes too! I don't like those hairstyles for the CC either; it makes me want to reach through the screen and brush them aside. Drives me nuts.

Really? I think she looks fierce.
I've never had long hair though so I don't know how inconvenient it is for eyesight.
Doesn't make it any less fierce.

I like them both. I think they both look a little battle hardened, like maybe something has happened between DA2 and DAI which is great.
The only thing I would change, if I could, would be Varric's hair color, looks a bit red to me.

Oh it looks great, but it can really affect your peripheral version as well as depth perception.

I personally find it super annoying, put it's a "personality" thing. Some people might not be annoyed by it.

Hm?
I find Cassandra at least tomboyish, with an emphasis on the boy, but I don't find Aveline ugly. Not particularly attractive, but that has more to do with the engine's rendering of the lips and eyes and a general indifference for redheads.
I do think Cassandra has some similarities towards, say, Japanese manga's androgynous styles, so that might tinge my perception a bit- Cassandra wouldn't be terribly hard to turn into a trap character.

My only issue with Cassandra's hair is that I don't understand how the braid is supposed to work. Does she just have that ONE section of hair long enough to braid? It looks an accessory and not part of her actual hair because everything else is cut so short.
That said, they definitely did some work between the reveal trailer and the character kit and that makes me happy, not because it made her look "better" but because she looks more like the Cass I know from Dragon Age II.
Other than the illogical braid, I love, love, LOVE the design and I can't wait to ship her and Varric in all kinds of UST-y glory.
Varric's design... I am having a hard time meshing with his design from Dragon Age II. He looks like a real person this time around and that is great but I am not sure if I would be ready to call him Varric yet. Especially with his hair so red. Also... boy needs his bling. Don't mind the armor on him because I think it ties in nicely with the comic book version.

From what i see, it doesnt look like a hair braid, it looks like a black band.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing lol.
I like the way it looks, though. It's cute, like the hearts on her armor/tunic.

You can tell it is a braid in the side and back views...

It gives her a kind of greco-roman vibe with her Cesar hair cut but illogical braid is illogical. I would prefer if she just had the short hair from Dragon Age II. It would look like like they were trying to "feminize" her hair (if they wanted to do that, give her an actual band...).

It must be me but, that doesnt look like a braid at all. The only thing that would say otherwise is the color

Call me crazy but I'm not seeing a difference between the two character designs. They are just showing the faces at different angles.

With varric its much more subtle and is more about his hair, Cassandra however is noticable, just look at her mouth, jaw, and eyes

I dislike Cassandra's redesign a lot.
They've widened her jaw too much. I have no idea why game developers always feel like women with soft jaw lines can't be soldiers. I don't understand why people aren't a bit offended by it, too - was Cassandra too pretty before to be a soldier? The answer should be an obvious "no". Her cheeks have sunken too, and it only serves to highlight just how much they've widened her jaw. It also seems like they've thinned her nose and made her chin wider. At least she gets to keep her high cheekbones.
I think Varric looks decent for the most part, though I'm not a big fan of the hair color change. I have no idea why he suddenly has neon orange eyes. I hope they remove that.

I like them on the whole. If I were to complain I would say they made Cassandra's Jaw a little bit too wide. I don't mind that it's wide and it actually was in da2 it just didn't look it because of the engine but I think they went a little too far. She still looks awesome though, I love her scars.
Varric looks a bit run down tbh, not that I think that is bad but it's very different, and ofc I preferred his original hair colour.
Morrigan looks good though and Vivienne looks amazing!

They've actually made her jawline thinner, if you look from left to right

No they haven't, it just looks thinner because of the angle. Look here
