To be honest, I actually don't know if they are in the game.  Big game is big and I don't have my ear close to the pulse of a lot of story aspects.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right, however.

Tbh, it would feel kinda weird if atleast King Alistair didn't have an appearance or small relevance to the game

I like it a lot, especially the armors.

Gaider mentioned in his tumblr that he's not satisfied with Varric's new hair color, so it may be changed. That's in the hands of the art direction though.

I wasn't at all bothered by either Varric's or Casandra's new appearances in the demo.  I chalked up a lot of their new appearance simply to the Frostbyte engine.  In fact, i didn't even know Varric's hair was different until it was pointed out to me.

Love the Cassandra translation from DA2 to DA:I. However, I'm finding issue with Varric's hair, though in the cutscene version he looks great. So if his hair could be done better to reflect more of the cutscene then forget the color that's Varric. Just the in game model is eh.

They looked fine before and they look fine now. It's really not that big of a difference.

Since it's an updated graphic I can understand a difference in appearance.  I do like the more realistic artstyle as opposed to the exaggerated anime of DA2.  Yes, Cassandra does not look attractive, but I think that it was already established in DA2 that she wasn't going to win any beauty contests.

Le shrug. Cassandra looks great.

I completely agree. I don't like big changes to established characters. I really dislike the change of her jaw into a square manly one, but not because it makes her "less pretty". They could make square jaws in DA2 if they wanted that look for her. I just really dislike the idea of:

strong female warrior = strong manly jaw

Aveline had a square jaw and it was fine since she always looked like that. But now Cassandra's face was changed with an exaggerated square jaw too because... she is a female warrior... and agressive. Women with oval faces can be strong characters too, not every female warrior character needs a square jaw.

Also I read somewhere they wanted sharp features for her with sharp angles. Especially in that first closeup screenshot her face doesn't look sharp at all, it just looks like a sqare block. Wouldn't it make more sense for her chin to make a sharp V if they were going for sharp features...

I really like the scars though. If they wanted to make her look more battlehardened they should have just used more scars imo.

Mhairi diddnt have a "Strong manly jaw" its just two out of three. not even all the guy warriors had those, it isnt the first time they gave a character physical alterations for their personality, pretty much all the companions in da2 had a few things about their looks that fit with their personality. a strong jaw can count.

The concept art shows off more what they say about her having sharp angles. but theres really only the demo to show off stuff in game with her actual look id say shes pretty angular.

Im busy staring at her weird band thing and Varric's hair color. I wish I could see more stuff in game of them running around but I Love both their looks so much :D  I could get used to almost anything though and I want Varric's gloves from the trailer.

I don't even recognize Mr. Tethras. It's too much change; change is not always good.

Cassandra looks amazing. Wouldn't **** with her. It's an added bonus that she isn't some dolled up princess archetype too.

I'll agree to disagree with you on Varric, for the most part.  I'll admit, it's due to some bias on my part.  Even if they don't change the hair color, he'll always be my PCs platonic life mate.

However, I think your description of Cassandra is spot on.  I look forward to her (seemingly) Lawful Good perspective in my party.

I think Cassandra looked amazing anyway, when a lot of people were saying her jaw was too large, but I think she looks good now too.

Varric is clearly Varric, but he looks a little scary - I think it's the eyes. They look like they're glowing red!

But all in all, I like both of their redesigns very much and I look forward to seeing what we can do with our Inquisitors.  :D

Exactly, i think i just grew attached to the previous look, i dont know why i liked the wider jaw line but eh it just fit for me, its something i can live without. What i miss is her eyes, the new pair of eyes look evil and menacing. I liked the idea that she was imposing but once you look at her eyes, you can see the less tense beauty in her. This is subject to change though and who knows she might look different in the end result, so time will tell

When it comes to Varric, as Spectre pointed out, it's just a weird quirk of the image capture.  His eyes aren't supposed to be that red (they are still closer to brown, upon a second look) and they aren't supposed to be glowing.  You're safe there. ;)

My guess is that they took the image capture when they were testing the trailer effects.  It looks like his eyes got caught in the glow of a fire, much like the trailer.

I like and dislike it at the same time. I like how they both look more realistic, I think that's fantastic that BioWare are trying to do that but in my opinion they look "uglier" if that's the right word to use? In DAO and DAA they all looked fab I think but in the second game they got worse. Not all of them mind you though. Some looked worse, for example Anders and Alistair especially Alistair he went badly wrong. But I did like how my character looked in DA2, she still looked cute :kissing:

Varric's profile reminds me of Jeff Bridges. So,.. 10/10!

I love both redesigns, they're close enough to their original design and also they look less 'plastic-fantastic' like they did in DA:II. They have much more added character and personality with less emphasis on the 'prettiness', which overall makes them far, far more attractive to me.

Cassandra looks good, better then the way she looked in DA2 in my opinion. I liked Varric's old look though. It adds so much character to the character.

I just hope Cassandras eyes are as intense as they were in DA:2.

As long as their hair doesn't look like it came out of a soft-serve ice cream machine, as it does in the OP, I'll be happy.

Well, and if I can see Varric's chest hair. ;)

Cassandra looks great imo. Didn't notice the headband at first, but now that I have, I think the thing is unnecessary. But so far, she's still the most interesting woman that has been confirmed as a companion.

I also like Varric's new look. The darker hair suits him. The orange eyes are a quirk of the capture btw, so the haircolor might also be a bit different in-game.

I quite like the redesigns, Not too fussed about varric, as tbh i'm not really a big fan of blonde hair (blasphemy i know! xD), black, brown and auburn hair for me <3

I don't think it will throw of Cassandra. Now, a squishy mage or elf on the other hand...
