That would be my assumption - that it is being tied to owning a DA product.

So far it sounds like the offline play is the most likely factor.  I've got a bug in for this now, and can discuss it with production / development when we have triage again tomorrow morning, to see if there's any easy fix we can provide other than having everyone having to file help tickets or something similar..

Thanks for the help everyone.

Hi all - I know Jesse has looked into this for a few specific people, but I'm not sure if there is an identified system cause or fix.

For those of you who can't post, can you confirm that you could do so on the BSN, using the same Origin login as you own the games with?
Have you actually played the games you can't post for, and tied them to your profile, or do you only have them purchased and sitting in Origin?

I can confirm that I could post on the BSN. I only have one Origin account and I have played all my games. My profile on the new forum lists DAO, DA2, ME2 and ME3 in the 'My Games' category. I'm certain that I have played DA2, DAO and ME3 online. I can't say for sure about ME2, I just can't remember. I did uninstall everything at one point due to memory issues but it's all still in the account and DA2 is still installed, I logged in and played it the other day to see if it would fix the posting problem.

Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, this is next on my list to get to the bottom of. The first was to fix the 10 second loading times some people were getting on the more busy categories and that has just been fixed.

There are a few people, like Sister Goldring, who do have the flags we are checking for but aren't getting the groups added to their account. I'll do some tests Monday and see what I can come up with.

Just to give an update - now that there's a new "Story, Campaign & Characters" forum for DAI, I can't post there either, even though I had previously posted in one of those threads before it was moved.

Hey guys,

I'm the only one in the office now, but I'll flag people first thing tomorrow morning and find out what's going on. There shouldn't be game permissions for DAI subforums since *none* of us own the game yet ;)

Sit tight and I'm so sorry if any of you are prevented from posting!!

The same thing. I also can't post in some DA2 forums, even with a game registration in my profile.

Is there a reason permissions are tied to us having played online rather than just having registered games? Seems a little weird to do it that way and probably excludes a fair amount of people. Not to mention making more work for moderators because people will just start threads outside of more appropriate forums.

I agree. My consoles are always offline, so this has caused problems on BSN for me before. Registration used to be done by entering a code from the back of the game box, but they changed that for ME3 and required it to be played online. I'm guessing that system carried over to the new site because I can't post in forums for games that I registered before the online requirement (DAO & DA2).

I really hope they can come up with a solution.

Yes, I'm locked out of all the character threads for some reason. Not just DAI so I can't post for any of the Dragon age character threads or ME character threads but I CAN post in scuttlebutt or any of the other topics just not character threads, which is of course the only ones I post in lol!
It seems strange because I have been able to until yesterday or maybe the day before. I have the games registered and I don't have any warning points, so I don't know what's happening.

So help would be greatly appreciated :)

That's interesting. Most of us seem to be locked out of each subforum that requires game registration, and can only post in those that don't - Scuttlebutt and News & Announcements. Can you post in the subforums for combat or feedback as well? Do the games on your profile have a + or - symbol in front of them?

Pretty much. And what if I don't want to play DA2 anymore? It's a bad design decision.

Apparently it doesn't count registered games that haven't been played online. I didn't realize this when I posted earlier as I had not been on the full site only mobile so all of the the game icons under avatars and the games tab were not shown so I didn't realize my game being registered on the other site meant nothing on this one. On the first page of this thread they said if you have internet simply connecting and syncing everything up should fix your issues.

Well it gets weirder! So I was able to post in anything but character and now I can only post in scuttlebutt and news. Also I had basically every mass effect and dragon age game registered with a + but now only mass effect 3 has that. I think it may be the only one I have downloaded through origin but the other games used to be in there. (I bought pc disks)

Oh and I also checked and I can still post in groups- for now lol! :D

I am also locked out of the DAI sub forums except for scuttlebutt  which is odd considering the game has yet to launch!

Just checked and i'm apparently locked out of every subforums for the games but scuttlebutt, even DAO, even though that's one of the games I actually got the icon to show up for....

I primarily play offline, and registered some of my games but can't sync them or input the data requiredto get the icons to show up and it sounds like playing offline is the problem which is kinda annoying, is there anything that can be done?

\We've QA'd this issue and it had to do with online entitlements for games. You still need to have gone online for certain games to post in some forums in Mass Effect 1,2,3 and Dragon Age: Origins / II but you should no longer have any issues being blocked from posting in any of our subforums in Dragon Age Inquisition.

DAI's forums now give me the option to post, and I just did to confirm that it works, but I'm still locked out of the DAO and DA2 subforums because of those online requirements. Are there any plans to fix this problem for offline gamers? Anyone who owns the games should be able to post, and some of us were able to on the old BSN.

ME3 has a + symbol and you still can't post in those forums? Strange. I only played ME3 online once, on a public console over a year and a half ago, and I can still post in all the Mass Effect forums. You're even blocked from ME1? That game doesn't even have a registration option here. Maybe they're all tied to ME3.
