I have try Kaidan in some game by import ME2 internet save file (I keep Ashley alive since ME1, because of romance reason and I don't know how to spec him potentially at that time)

As I play adept, I thought Kaidan's power will combinable with my class but he is not good as I expect.
Ok, reave is the one of best biotic sync as well as overload work potentially for shield enemy. But his cooldown is terrible for me.

Even he is on my team list. I still prefer to have Garrus & Liara.

For Ashley, I m not much using her  because of her power not matching with adept class.

She's another Garrus. Deadly with a sniper rifle, if specced right. But her inferno grenades make fire explosions fun. Throw out singularities like crazy and let her pick off the targets floating in the air. If you don't combo them to death first. She gets the ones you miss. She's a good teammate for biotics. Garrus can do all that though. His proximity mines can be fun to use too. He's an equally good teammate, so it just comes down to choice really.

I agree that Ashley is weaker than Kaiden as a squadmate. I don't use either of them to be honest. I preferred saving Ash when I did my femshep playthrough because although she's a bit of a dick in ME1 and 2 she's much less annoying than Kaiden in ME3. He's a whinging ******.

In ME3 Ashley is alive for most of my playthroughs. She is very strong as a squadmate and a mini-tank. She doesn't need to be babysat during any mission and when she has the Black Widow she kills everything in sight.

I've had Kaidan as a squadmate a few times and he too is strong and doesn't need to be babysat during missions. I always put him and James together.

Agree with Ashley and the Black Widow. She used to be a monster with the Revanant when her marksman ability worked :(

Yeah.....you clearly never gave Ashley the Black Widow or even the Incisor.

Kaiden does bring both Tech and Biotic abilities to the table, making him more inherently unique. He is useful to both Tech and Biotic teams.

That said, Ashley is still useful. By no means weak, or better.

All squadmates have ridiculously long cooldowns and lower weapon damage, so I tend not to bring team-mates purely on their combat abilities. I do bring them for their unique dialogue mostly.

I agree with what I posted in this thread at the beginning of the year.

Since this topic has resurfaced, I shall post my ode to Ashley and the Typhoon. (which I don't use anymore, btw, because it is just too OP.) This is on insanity, btw.

Lol @ Ashley is weak. She is literally the most overpowered squadmate you can get if you put a typhoon in her hands and take the AR damage evo in her passives. You don't even have to shoot or use your own powers, just spam attack commands on whatever you want her to melt.

Kaiden is okay but nothing spectacular. His strength is that he can combo with just about any other class or squadmate. I never use him because I generally play Inflitrator, have garrus or ashley for fire explosions and weapon damage, and Tali for aggro/ crowd control and spamming tech bursts via her 6 second recharging Energy Drain.

The squadmate balance is a bit better when you don't run certain DLC weapons on them (which was a more complicated issue in ME2).

Typhoon is pretty egregious by the numbers.  It is basically inappropriate for SP since the enemies never got HP buffs like in MP.
