I really hope it is DAO. DA2 darkspawn didn't bother me as much as some, but I am currently replaying DAO and man those darkspawn are awesome looking.

I'm with you on DAO darkspawn looking better than the wanna-be-skeletors of DA2, but for Inquisition, if the darkspawn are getting redesigned, they'll probably end up looking more like they did in 2 than they did in DAO.
I'm also hoping they'll stick with the DA:O darkspawn. The ones in DA2 looked... weird. Neither were particularly creepy, though.
I think they're committed to the Putty Patrollers, sadly.
DA:O had darkspawn. What darkspawn were in da2? All I saw were husks, and the occasional brute.
I heard they was sticking with DA2 Darkspawn but changing their appearance some more

I heard the same, like for example the faces may change to be more terrifying but things like the bare-necessity armor is there to stay. Which I think is a good call, since the average Hurlock shouldn't more armor more exquisite than a King's.
The DA2 darkspawn look like jesters I want DAO with frostbite

Oh so they're going back to the DAO one then?
Anyway, do we even know if darkspawn are going to be in the game? Its been a few decades now, i'd figured most if not all had retreated back tot he deep roads by now.
I actually prefered the darkspawn from the second game. 'bout the only thing I prefered over the first one.
Can't wait to see how Bioware worked on them if they ever appear in DA:I
Hopefully the former.
I hope they shoot for some sort of middle ground, since there were merits to both game's designs imo. I didn't like the green skin they had in DA:O, but I thought their teeth were awesome. DA:O Darkspawn were also portrayed in a more horrific and intimidating way through the narrative and cutscenes. DA2 darkspawn had a more disturbing resemblance to their mortal counterparts which I liked, and their armor design was a lot more intuitive imo, but their teeth and animations looked silly.
The darkspawn were ridiculous, awful, ignoble in DAII.... Fortunately, Bioware gave them some dignity with the dlc Legacy.
I think the DA2 darkspawn looked more like people who had been transformed. In Origins the darkspawn look like something completely different in origins.
I especially like Corypheus' design, you could still see the semblance of his past life as a Tevinter Magister. Too bad they can't remember what it was like before they entered the Golden City.

What annoys me about the darkspawn is that in the books they say ogres are blue, but in the video games they're red. That or I'm colorblind.

I always thought in DA2 they were an ugly tan color and in DAO purple. Tbh, I prefer the purple lol.

In DA2, they had a shark theme where the bellies were tan and their backs were blue.
In DAO, especially in the cinematic scenes the DS were much better. The ogers in DAO were way better, especially the armored ones!
Jeez, the DAO Ogre was MILES better than the DA2 Ogres in my opinion.
The DAO ogre made it into Mass Effect 2 through Kasumi's DLC. Imagine if it was the DA2 Ogre. Eww. That would've looked stupid as hell.

I'm laughing sooo hard omg I never put that together, you're totally right!

I don't know, Bioware has a thing for fish. I understand their love for sushi as I share it, but they must've had a really killer fish soup one day and decided, "Darkspawn need a shark theme! And in Inquisition, lets create fish-looking helmets and armor!"
I don't get it.
