(I'm not sure whether or not this topic is in the right place here, but since I will be giving spoilers about the story, I thought it might be fine)

Hey guys and girls :)

I've got a question about the length of the game. Across the internet I can find all sorts of numbers about the amount of hours people have spent on the vanilla game: +70 hours, 120 hours, +80....
I am currently right after Fort Drakon, with a level 18 Dwarf Noble Rogue. I have done all the treaties and Redcliffe (obviously), I have dealt with the Stone Prisoner and Soldier's Peak, and I have done the companion quests for Oghren, Shale, Morrigan, Alistair, Wynne and Leliana. On top of that I have done quite a few side quests (most of those that are available in every area). My timer currently stand on 36 hours, 34 minutes and 15 seconds. I am playing on Normal difficulty. I don't think I'll take about 40 hours to complete the coming part of the game.

Is there something I'm missing? Or am I a really fast player? Or is everyone else on the internet just really slow? I should point out that this is only my second playthrough, with my first being completed over a year ago. And that one was kind of the timeframe as this one currently is, if not even faster because I didn't do the DLCs and some of the companion quests then.

I've completed multiple playthroughs in DA:O with all DLC, and I average anywhere between 105 - 120 hours of gameplay. I usually enter Awakening at level 23, but I also take my time and complete every mission, and I read every codex, so that adds to the time. I've never concerned myself with how fast I complete a game, because it's all about the gamer's experience. As long as you're enjoying the game, who cares how long it takes you to complete it, right? Of course, I don't say this in a manner of, "Your question is stupid!", but it's merely an opinion of mine.  :)

Oh no, ofcourse it's not about the length. I just worry I'm rushing through the game with this timeframe, and wonder why so many others have put so many hours into it whereas I have not.

I also have my Warden walk when I don't really need to have him/her run. Not sure how popular that is, but I'm sure that adds to the time as well. Haha

I've completed the game numerous times with all dlc. I always finished Origins at a level 23 or 24 character and start Awakening with that character. I have no idea what the quickest time it took me to finish the game. Maybe I 'll keep track the next time. My very first playthrough took forever reading all the codex entries and trying to familiarize myself with the gameplay.

Have you played all dlc available for origins? If no that makes a big difference. Playing Awakening alone takes between 10 - 15 hours depending on playstyle.

My first run was just a bit over 100 hours, but I play REALLY SLOW (picture the slowest playstyle imaginable and make it go twice as slow  :P).

I did play on Nightmare though, so that made battles take significantly longer (especially cuz I pause the combat for like every single move).

I also spent a lot of time locked in dialogue, since I usually thought long and hard before picking each response (Are you doing all the companion dialogue btw?).

That being said, a regular run without much mucking around would be anywhere between 40 to 50 hours. It doesn't sound like you're rushing at all to me, just more like your playstyle is "get to the point".

Yes, I do as much companion dialogue as possible. Awakenings I played in my last playthrough, and the main game add-ons like Return to Ostagar and Stone Prisoner I'm doing in this one.

I have never timed how long it took for a play through. If you do all the side quests too and the DLC, it adds quite a few hours into play. I like to take my time, play with mods (like The winter Forge) and added armors. Plus it takes me an hour just to make a character. If you add it all up, many many hours involved :D Just have fun!!

You aren't probably missing anything of note. I'd say the 40 hour mark is about the average for a typical playthrough in normal difficulty. The quickest I've clocked is around 35 in nightmare, without actually skipping cutscenes, dialogues, or trying to be quick in general. I've recently completed two playthroughs that clocked over 80 although I wasn't really trying to go slow. Let me guess - you are probably playing a melee warrior or a rouge; mages and archers tend to need more micromanagement. Also you are probably not listening to Leliana's stories multiple times like me. Leaving the game paused by bringing up menu interfaces and the main menu while taking a break doesn't really stop the timer, which might as well be another reason for discrepancies in people's timings.

Yes I am a rogue -

And well... no, I don't listen to Leliana's stories multiple times. But I do leave the game paused when I go and eat something sometimes.

I think you Save games gives the amount of time played so you don't have to figure it out.  I don't remember what my times were but I assume it was a long time.
