I hope the females aren't sexed up like in the comic, they should be just as fugly as the males.

You're probably going to be disappointed.
Besides, I doubt that with the CC people will not be able to create handsome male qunari too.

They lack the skin flaps of the DA2 Qunari so it is more seamless between horn and skin, but they look the same otherwise.

Would be neat to see if they had different skin or horn colours to see how they handled the transition in more detail. I think that removing the skin flaps might help making non-horned Qunari look more similar to their look in DAO.

LOL sort of.  The lore explanation is that if a Qunari is born without horns (which is rare,) then they are destined for great things.  Giving that chance for the player to be a hornless Qunari Inquisitor reflects that, I think.

On topic: I actually really like the update.  I look forward to seeing them with more of the textures in place, but otherwise they look great!

Actually, if you read the Wiki, lore has been conveniently updated ;)  to note that some are born hornless (it's a rare thing, kind of like human kids with six fingers or toes), but others also will actually remove their horns. This apparently makes them look fiercer and more aggressive to kindred (and Vashoth appear more likely to do this.)

Please note, this is one of the DAverse's weird inversions, as animals typically develop horns to look more fierce - the exact opposite.

BTW, I don't know if the DA:I CC will allow playable qunari to be hornless. That hasn't been said one way or the other. Now -- granted -- they've got to solve the "helm problem" somehow, if they do have them. Frostbite might offer a method. Perhaps their helms, instead of being horned helms themselves, simply have holes in the right places.  :D

I doubt we'll be able to make hornless Qunari, but NPC's would be easier, because they could just not wear helmets.

According to the Nerd Appropriate podcast we'll be able to choose whether you want horns or not.

Why would that be hard? Removing the horns would make it less complicated

I think he might have meant "horned" where he wrote "hornless", that's the only way that sentence makes sense to me, though we know it's not the case.

I'm not seeing an actual redesign...

I was not crazy with the Iron Bull's proportions (even more massive chest than normal + itty bitty head, thrust forward more than usual) when we first saw him in the trailer, but if that's JUST him, then I'm totally fine with that being his unique physique.

Lol that would defeat the purpose of showing us a pre-alpha horned qunari, just to take it away

I think its definitely unique to him, he is after all the iron BULL

They just added more detail and I happen to like the redesign. My only complaint is the

warpaint. It looks like they slammed their face in a over-sized paint palette.

I'm hoping the other options for war paint doesn't look that awful.

As far as I know, we haven't seen the definitive Qunari look yet, but I'm not happy with the topmost pic in the OP - reminds me of the way a Qunari would look in a Pixar or Disney movie tbh.

Ugly as sin.

I hope that it doesn't keep up. They had it right in Dragon Age II.

Change is NOT always a good thing.

I think what people are missing on the topmost images of the DA is that it's demonstrating a singular mouth, nose, and eye shape with a completely, 100% neutral expression. The only significant difference between the Arishok's facial design and the design in Inquisition is the lack of winkles/stress parks (which the player was able to add/remove at their leisure in the DA:O character creator, I don't recall if it was an option in DA2 or not) and the way their flesh tapers onto the horns (which, admittedly, is quite different).

What makes them look so off-putting, to be completely honest, is that they're using regular human(oid) eyes instead of the traditional eyes we've seen Qunari with since DA2. The brow is a bit higher on those particular face sculpts, yes, but on the bottom-left it's just as low as in DA2 (brow height has been modifiable in every DA anyways, so that's a non-issue). The Qunari head-sculpts do look a bit silly, to be certain, but that's because they're, well, expressionless head-sculpts. Most bust models look really weird without any amount of emotion- that's not exclusive to these ones.

In short, I think they look absolutely fine for what they are. I'm reserving the right to pass judgment until I see how they look in-engine, though.

They'd have to make two kinds of helmet for the Qunari. We definitely know that Qunari will be able to be horned and wear helmets. Adding hornless would mean they have to remake all headgear again.

It would be easier to make than the ones for horned Qunari, but it would still be an additional task.

There's no point to Quanari without horns.

I beg to differ. It's not merely a redesign. Qunari were originally supposed to have horns in Origins, but it was taken away since they weren't sure how they were supposed to have Sten wear a helmet if he had horns. In DA2, they found a way to make it work, but rather than BioWare saying, "Ignore everything about the qunari from Origins", it's simply that there are some qunari with horns, and some without. Therefore, if they use this reasoning, I would like to see both.

I mean, in other works post-DA2, Sten's original appearance is essentially kept the same.

Depends on how much the helmet designs differ depending on race, which we'll have to wait to see

I actually like the redesign, in origins they felt like really tall humans now they really do seem like something else.......something where I need to have a lot of swords if I have a conversation with.

I don't like it very much, but this is just one face and it's probably not such a great picture what with the war paint and baldness and all and they've been made to fit more into the new style that DAI is being made in, more realistic.

I do miss the way the horns attached to the heads from DA2, that looked cool.

As long as I can make qunari look less doe-eyed(the eyes look so cute) and make him/her look more like a DA2 qunari with awesome textures, I'm happy.

I think the problem for me lies mostly with this man's eyes... or the war paint, I'm not sure.

I did notice that the nose is exactly the same by the nostrils as that of the Arishok.

Either way I don't mind it that much, At least now you won't have over 100 qunari all with the same face.

They look too gentle here. I liked them more in DA2.
