Here's an animation reference video:

Edit: Ha, beaten to it I guess.

What the hell is that, that girl has the unhealthiest posture I've ever seen, she can't even stand straight let alone walk like healthy human being.

You know, if videos are gonna be put up of people walking and running and that sort of thing to rep the in-game stuff or make it look...struttier, it should probably be in armor to make more sense.

Sure I guess, but I wonder how many different variations of animation could realistically be added into the game depending on what you're wearing. I suppose it would have to vary between the armor-wearing warrior and the setup of the mages and rogues. Honestly I would love to see the gait vary based on the weight of the items you wear, but I don't know how that could be done properly.

It'd be a hell of a nice detail, but more work than what it'd be worth.

My problems with BioWare's female animations, Shep and Hawke, all lie in the upper body.  Shep is hunched like a freaking running back and looks like she's trying to break through the line just walking around the Normandy.  As someone who generally has a lot of roll in her hips just walking about Hawke's sway didn't seem unrealistic to me (and certiainly not, as some people have said, indicative of a congenital defect) but all that flaiiling about was excessive.  The run, on the other hand, was horrid.  As for the one-foot stance, I stand like that all of the time.  That little digging-in-the-toe idle animation was a bit on the Shirley Temple side for me, though.

I wouldn't mind a bit less sway but I also don't find it in any way offensive, as long as FemQuisitor knows how to control the upper half of her body.  As long as she doesn't sit like this in fancy dress I'll be okay whatever the devs decide.

Edited to ask which dev it was that promised every BSN request for a toggle meant the death of a kitten.

I don't think that's Vivienne, because she's not wearing her Qunari hat. And why would she be carrying Cassandra's ionic shield?

Also that person is wearing a headband so it's definitely Cass.

So every man and women I've observed my entire life who adhere to walking, moving and running differently in accordance with their gender has been my imagination. I've never seen a man walk with his shoulders swaying? A woman move with her hips swaying?

I see girls who run like female Hawk in the gym every other day on the treadmill, despite her exaggerated running animation. But my eyes were deceiving me? I know there are exceptions in both genders, but they are just that, exceptions. Gender plays a big part in how we move, society may enforce those differences, but they are there.

It hasn't been your imagination but if you are going to tell me that you also haven't seen men that sway their hips and women that sway their shoulders as they walk, then you would either lie or you live in a small community somewhere that all behave in a very similar fashion.

These are not exceptions, these are just things that are. I can sway my shoulders and I can sway my hips while I walk if I think about it, I do neither. But if I wanted to do it, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my acting and the ''real thing'', trust me.

I'd rather a person walk like a person, regardless of their gender.

However, it'd be cool if each character had their own movements in accordance to their personality. But then again, you can always do too much with that and in the end it might come out ridiculous with everybody walking different.

It'd be the grand parade of the Marching Murderers of Marseilles.

It'd be the Ministry of Silly Walks.  Somehow, I'm not opposed.

I vote for a more neutral walk/run animation. At least for the Inquisitor.

While I definitely hope each gender gets their own animation set, I wouldn't mind if Bioware kept the strut or if they went with something less pronounced.

Depends on the character tbh Cassandra being heavily armoured would look funny doing it.

I swear, every time I see professional guy dancers/models in high heels dance or do a catwalk they do it better then the women.

One does not simply walk into Orlais.

One SASHAYS, daaahling!  Chopines for everyone, male and female and still deciding!

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could tailor our social presentation to the situation we were in, in game.  So walking into the ballroom looked different to striding into battle, whether you were male or female, or girly or manly.  I know - that's way beyond the bounds of possibility.  I'll settle for something that looks vaguely realistic and won't put anyone's eye out.  Because FemHawke looked very silly.  But so did FemShep.  There's got to be a middle ground.

I'm a little weirded out by how many times I watched this.  They're mesmerizing  I actually feel a lot better about the model strut in DA now... I want my Inquisitor to look as FIERCE as those men!

i file it under, "Catwalk" and just try to move on. honestly it all depends where yuo place your feet when you walk. the "catwalk" is the one foot in front of another thing.

tho honestly can we get models with you know, weight on them cause really I don't really find skeletons very attractive.. .... oh crap an idea for a skyrim mod... catwalk show for armors with druager need to skoot over to the skyrim forums now. later!!!

In the Dragon's Dogma CC, you can set your own stance/walk animation with a slider.  It ranged from very macho to neutral to very "girly" and in-between.  I'd love to see something like that applied to the DA:I CC.
