I'd just not have different heads by gender. So every shape is available for every character.

Right now, they have to build one customisation system for males and another for females. If they just had one for everybody, the added cost would come from hiding options, not including them.

I'm actually for this idea completely. All options in CC should be available to every gender.

Female facial structures are invariably different from male ones. I'm all for more options not limited by gender ( homogenizing cosmetic options such as hair styles, jewelry, and makeup etc ..),, but i still believe that women and men are fundamentally different (physically) that the presets should be distinct. Not everyone is patient enough to spend hours on a character creator to make characters fit their chosen gender.

I have a thing for subtle black eyeliner on men when their facial structure supports it.

That is so not subtle.

But I support the idea of allowing makeup for dudes.

But if the customisation options are robust, we could move seamlessly between them.

You of course mean facial tattoos, right?

I'm indifferent to the idea.  While I don't oppose it's inclusion, count me among the number who wouldn't use the option.  Even any fem inquisitor I make would keep it to fairly suble levels.  In my view, at least, significant/garish use of makeup isn't exactly appropriate for a leader of a newly-established organisation who, presumably, wishes to be taken seriously.  Plus, such use of makeup won't necessarily be reflected in any of the personality options available in the game; it might come off as more of a throwaway cosmetic option than a real element that helps define the character you want your inquisitor to be.  But, of course, those are just reasons why I wouldn't use the option, not why the option should be left out.

Makeup options aren't there just to let us have conspicuous displays of cosmetics.  They grant us more options to adjust the appearance of our characters, full stop.  Subtle makeup, on characters of either gender, can be the difference between having a character who looks how you want him to look, and a character who doesn't.

If you can't get the brow ridge just right, maybe some eyeshadow would create the impression that you did.

No, full makeup options. Like the Mad man above me, I think having makeup options can increase the chance of us nailing our character's appearance. Besides, more options (especially in a cosmetic sense) are always better. Even if you don't use it, it's nice to have it in case you choose to (or in case someone else does).

Well, obviously, there are other valid perspectives on the matter, which is why I'm not against the idea.

Yeeeaaah, I doubt I'm gonna fuss over my inquistor's appearance to the point that I need makeup to fix it.  At any rate, I won't say my decision on the matter is set in stone; I'll wait and see how the idea's actually implemented (if it is).

Some of us care very deeply about our characters' appearances.  This is why some people freaked out when Shepard's appearance changed subtly between ME installments.

Yep, I am obsessed with the way my characters look! I spent more time in ME2's CC (I like to improve Shepard and not keep them the same as ME1 because that CC was horrible) through all my playthroughs than I did with the entirety of ME3.

I care a lot about my character's appearance. I spend at least 30 minutes simply in the character creation, and this is with me being very familiar with the creator! The first time I used Dragon Age's character creation, I spent over an hour just customizing.

Do you have an argument to restrict beards by gender?  I don't.  Why would I want the game to tell the players that they cannot play a certain way?

I actually once asked at a Bioware panel whether female dwarves would get beard options.  The answer, alas, was no.

Precisely!  The ability to do a little shading around the eyes to add to the face tattoo would be awesome.  Or make a flamboyant Orlesian peacock, why not?  Why would the fictional world of Thedas have the exact same hangups about how a man should look and dress as our world does?

Yes. "Male" and "female" characters should have all the same options. Other games manage this just fine.

Some options shouldn't be given to female characters. Such as facial hair. Asking for facial hair for females would be like asking for Qunari horns for humans, elves, and dwarves.

Then in exchange the females should get something exclusive.

In Skyrim, only mods can give females facial hair. There isn't any game (that I can think of) that allows women to have beards. However, there are many games that allow men to wear eyeshadow and lip color without mods (including Skyrim). 99.9999% of women are incapable of growing beards without the help of testosterone. 100% of males are capable of putting on a bit of eye shadow and face paint. Many men just choose not to.

Except women with facial hair are a real thing.

Except it is a one in a million chance that a woman can grow facial hair NATURALLY and without testosterone therapy. Even then, it's a genetic defect. Woman just can't naturally grow beards. Sure, they have 'peach fuzz', but that's practically invisible.

Not my point. If male characters have an exclusive customization option, then female characters should too and visa versa. Either have everything available or have equal exclusiveness.

And why should that matter in a fantasy game? People should have as much freedom as possible to make the character they want. Maybe my female inquisitor was cursed with a beard in her youth. Or maybe it's a fake beard that someone glued onto her face as a prank.

I don't consider beards to be an exclusive customization option. Elven men can't grow beards. Humans can't have pointy elf ears. Elves, Dwarves, and Humans can't have Qunari horns. In fact, there is no racial feature that's specific to humans. Those are features that are unique to them. Women don't grow beards. That's unique to them.

I wouldn't like for there to be an option for beards for women. If any race could have women beards, it would be dwarves, and it's already been officially stated that it will never happen. There is still a chance for eye shadow and lip color for men, though.

See the above. There is no chance for beards to be available for the women outside of mods, and that might even end (as Frostbite doesn't initially accommdate modding. They'd have to make some special arrangements to make modding available.)

I never said that. My opinion is that things added should be realistic. If beards were an added option for women, I'd cringe every time I saw it, and I wouldn't use it. However, I wouldn't bring a call to arms (so to say) against it.

Beards for women won't be an option anyway, so I don't see a reason to argue on that point anymore. Your opinion that you do not want eyeshadow and lip color for men has been noted. There's no point to argue this further. (We'll just go around and around in circles arguing).
