I don't know, because some people like that look? (I hope you don't think Johnny Depp is creepy). Besides, literally every male actor wears makeup.

Yeah but it suits Jack Sparrow because he is more than a little flamboyant and a touch ambiguous when it comes to sexual orientation, as for the other guy you posted he just looks like a ponce.

Maybe some people want to portray their characters as a little flamboyant and a touch ambiguous.  It would be nice if they had the ability to do so.

I am not arguing against the idea, in fact the more customization options the better, I just think the other guy looks like a ponce which if you want to make your character look like a ponce there is nothing wrong with that either.

Alright, then I apologize and completely agree with you.

When in Orlais...

Blooming Rose employee, feminine voice: "You mean, he made you wear a feather boa?"

Blooming Rose employee, basso profundo:  "Orlesian, darling ... "

I choose to assume this means fashionable Orlesian chaps have no problems being pictures of effete baroque elegance.  I'm talking beauty patches, powder, eyeliner, bling, silk, wigs with live animals in them, the works. Well, OK.  I may bend a bit on the wigs.  They'd be hard to render.

Some may say that that's a lot to get out of one snippet of background chatter in a brothel, but I believe in getting value for money for my entertainment. My head-canon is vast and silly.

Sure why not? And while we are at lets give female characters (especially dwarves) the ability to have beards.

There will never be women beards. It's been stated by an employee already. Well, they said there won't be beards in DA:I. You never know with future games, but it's safe to say that there won't be.

And why not? Did they give a good reason or is it merely to maintain some sort of sexist double standard that dictates that women aren't allowed to have beards?

I'm fairly certain it's because women can't grow beards naturally. We've covered this on page 5 of this thread I believe.

Some can, what if I want to roleplay a woman with a hormone disorder?

I guess you'll have to imagine she shaved her beard that morning? If you're a PC gamer, then you could get a mod for it. There aren't any games that I can think of that has the ability to give your woman a beard, and for good reason. That's just my opinion though. I know there are a few out there that are pushing for beard options for women, but I don't think it's enough to actually consider the idea. If you want to suggest a beard option, then you should make a new post in the feedback and suggestion forum for it. I think it's high time people stop coming to the eyeshadow and lip color topic to complain about beards. If you want beards, suggest it.

(I don't want to suggest it myself because I'm against the idea. But, hey, to each their own.)

And what reason would that be? To deny women the basic rights available to any man? To establish a culture of misogyny that dictates that women don't have the right to facial hair? Besides I believe Saint's Row allows women characters to have beards.

I am a woman myself, so no. I don't think that. I said 'for good reason' because it is my belief that character creation should be believable. Sure, women can grow beards through hormonal treatments, but there is no such thing in the world of Thedas. I refuse to reply further on beards in this thread, so if you would like to continue this conversation, feel free to pm me.

Hirsutism is a condition that occurs naturally, and is actually much more common than people realize (since most women who suffer from it go to lengths to hide it).

This isn't worth arguing about, since we already know that facial hair for women is not going to be an option.  I just hate to see this misinformation perpetuated.

Does this mean I get to make Raven from old school ECW/WCW?  Sweet.

Would prefer they put in nasty facial scars (like what ME1 had but more options) and the ability to make an eye blind looking but anything for more customization.

I could use the old arguments of how thru-out the ages men have been wearing and doings things that nowadays are considered strictly feminine. But that's just it, that was then, and this is now. And times have changed. Which I find pretty saddening, because I just don't find it that big of a deal. Having grown up surrounded by alt-people, I'm pretty used to men wearing make-up. It's usually our own society that puts stereotypes on them, thinking their sexuality is "ambiguous" or they're "flamboyant" for it. I've known plenty of macho headed big hairy testosterone fests that also... happen to enjoy a little black eyeliner now and then. Just because some of you don't understand the need or desire, doesn't mean it should be kept from those who might want more options.

Certainly wouldn't mind seeing it in the CC. Dragon's Dogma allows it for either gender. And it's great in the Sims, whether or not I'm making an alternative character, I still enjoy using blush or eye make-up to give further depth and layers to the face. Eitherway, it only sounds beneficial to me. More options and variety is always nice.

It's not something I could see myself using OFTEN but I think that would be an awesome thing to have. I understand people wanting to create wonderfully diverse characters and I think it would be great to give people as much opportunity to do so as possible.

I would also say that having a flamboyant personality is equally important (if not more so) as looking it (the outside often mirrors what's inside) and there's no telling whether the game'll offer that opportunity.  If not, then there's the risk it just comes off as a shallow cosmetic option.

But what else is the CC for, but shallow cosmetic options?  ;)

Nothing else, really.  But Jack Sparrow was brought up, cuz apparently people wanna be like him, or similarly flamboyant individual.  Well, unfortunately, that requires both personality and appearance.  If makeup becomes available, those people might have to accept that they can only look that flamboyant, cuz who knows what kind of personalities we'll actually be able to play in-game.  That's all.  Far be it from me to deny them that option, though :) .

If you are referring to my comment about Jack Sparrow it wasn't the eyeliner.

How would yall feel about negative and positive reactions to a male with make-up on? For added realism.

I believe you said it suited him because he was already a bit flamboyant and ambiguous. Which prompted me to say it's not only the flamboyant and ambiguous that desire to wear make-up. Since it seems acceptable to wear it if one's personality/sexual preference merits it, well I'm not too keen on that assumption, because it implies, even if not meant that way, that if a guy is wearing make-up then he must be all those tropes, or it only suits him if he is.

Not sure how they'd even be able to do it. I suppose they'd have to make it so the game recognizes you used that option in the first place, but for the people who just did it subtly to add more depth to the face and their characters don't even look like they're wearing make-up at all, it'd be pretty misplaced and confusing.
