I would also say that having a flamboyant personality is equally important (if not more so) as looking it (the outside often mirrors what's inside) and there's no telling whether the game'll offer that opportunity.  If not, then there's the risk it just comes off as a shallow cosmetic option.

Plenty of beautiful on the outside people with horrid insides, and vice versa.

Don't see the problem with shallow cosmetic options, since again, one's personality doesn't always dictate their fashion choices. Heavily gothed out people come to mind, who end up being perkier and nicer than most people. Plenty of people automatically assume things, just based on make-up choices, when in my experience anyone who -looks- like they'll behave a certain way doesn't often behave that way at all.

Also women already have that option. If they can have shallow cosmetic options, men having shallow options would be pretty fair.

Which is why I said 'often', and not 'always'.  Also, it's much harder to change how your body looks, as opposed to clothes and makeup.  But lets be serious here.  Nobody's gonna look flamboyant (or, say, punk) unless either that person is flamboyant (or again, say, punk), or is just looking for attention.

But none of that is reason to deny those cosmetic options, so feel free to ignore me.

I hate to disillusion you of your stereotyping, but straight men wear makeup too...And there are plenty of gay men who don't.

How would yall feel about negative and positive reactions to a male with make-up on? For added realism.

Only if I can slap on clown paint and frighten children in the game. That's the only way I'd care to have it.

In all seriousness, I don't see why people would be against having a makeup feature for male characters. The more options, the merrier, right? Besides, what if I want to create Khal Drogo?

I wouldn't like it because I use makeup to give depth to the face. My male characters don't look like they have makeup, they just look more real. I would like it if characters reacted to scars or tattoos though! <3

You should create him.  And then post many, many screenshots.

You have GOT to be kidding me with your comments, right?

First, I don't believe that this thread is discussing mandatory eye shadow and lip color for males, so why do you care?  If you don't want to use it, then don't, but why deny it for other people?

Second, your statements are borderline offensive with the suggestions that you are making.  I am gay and have never worn eye make-up.  My brother is straight and has because he went through a punk phase.  Eye make-up (or any make-up for that matter) on a male =/= gay.  Your sweeping stereotypes are unhelpful.

I know a lot of goths, so... probably most of the men I hang out with wear makeup on occasion.  Most of them are straight.  Some of them aren't.  Doesn't matter.

Yeah I think people are forgetting that 'make up' covers war paint and looks like his as well.

Why not? I can't imagine it would take too much work to make it available for male characters as well.

I pulled up this from my copy of The World of Thedas Volume 1:

"Wearing makeup is another popular tradition for both men and women in Orlais. Even chevaliers may wear cosmetics. There is both masculine and feminine makeup, although outsiders may have trouble telling the difference. Makeup can be a strong indicator of social standing. The quality and rarity of one's makeup- uncommon hues and consistencies are prized- speak volumes of one's status."

Uh oh...does this mean there will be more NPCs with neon green eyeshadow with opaque white lipstick like in DA2?
