I don't care much about equipment now, just getting in and enjoying the game.
Do you gear up before searching for a lobby or not?

Nope.
Simply because I like to tailor my character and gear to the map and enemy the lobby will be playing on/against.
Bit of a pain when you get into a in-progress match but those are the chances you take.
