So this has nothing to do with anything but the writer of that IGN article, Luke Karmali, is hella cute. And British.

But anyway. I know what you mean. I read an article on Gamespot about that Ubisoft interview about gay protagonists and many of the comments were along the lines of "Why is Gamespot covering this? I thought this site was family friendly!" One person actually wanted to sue Gamespot because it teaches kids that being gay is normal. They even compared gay content to alcohol and prostitutes.. It's absolutely ridiculous to me and it pissed me off.
BUT! Then I realized that the gaming industry is basically saying "Forget these guys! We're gonna do it anyway!" And that gives me hope! Already we've seen games with strong gay characters and we're only going to see more! Companies like Bioware, Naughty Dog, and Rockstar are leading the charge on these issues and I look forward to the future!
I truly think that these gamers are a minority and I think Kotaku's response to the theory it would affect sales is great:
[They] are thinking of the sales having a major, playable gay character would cost them.
What's wrong with thinking of the sales it would create for them?
