Well...not everyone is as 1337 MLG as you are :P (j/k). But you're right, impressed is probably too strong a word. Still, it remains a good solo notwithstanding when it was done.

Sure it is. To clarify: I wasn't trying to brag or anything. I'm sure as hell that if Achire was still playing, he'd have no problems whatsoever doing better than he did and better than I would. Heck, I learned the ropes of the novaguard watching his solo...

I was trying to point out how much things have changed, and how hard it is to compare solos that have been done so far apart in time...

While that's true to an extent (the gameplay itself is still tight), somehow I find that solo way more entertaining to watch than any other that has been done since then.

It happens to me as well. It might just be that it was the first platinum solo I've ever watched, or just nostalgia for the good ol' days... Not sure, but I definitely feel that way too :)

Yah, because kroguard reegar + incendiary is totally impressive...

I like how every time this comes up, someone says this. It is impressive. I've seen a bunch of solo speedruns using this same setup, his is right up there with the fastest times I've seen. I'm not saying that you couldn't do it, or that no one else can do it, and I'm not saying Inc IV + Reegar isn't powerful, it is, but that doesn't make it unimpressive. Besides, the entire point of a speedrun is, take the best stuff you can or the stuff you do best with, and go wreck shop, which he did. "Oh, you didn't use the Predator IV with no consumables. *crosses arms* Not impressed". It's a totally ridiculous standard to say that great players aren't great b/c they use the best guns/equipment and wreck.

If you mean that I was impressed when I watched it, then I guess it's Sp3c7er's or however it's written, and Achire's. But that's also because when I watched Sp3c7er's one I was a complete noob and watched in awe at how he RHAd Banshees to death while the only thing I could do was run around the battlefield screaming in fear of them.

Judging with the experience I have now, and by today's standards... That solo is far from being impressive.

Take a look at how long his shields take to recharge.

See how quickly the enemies lock on to his character model when he's out in the open.

No geth scanner used.

No cyclonic used.

Take a measure of just how aware he really is.

Using hipfire instead of ADS so he can DPS whilst having perfect vision of flanking avenues.

Weaving with the pizza to minimise exposure time to prevent ravager lock on; at lower frame rates you could just wing it as the shots will miss from that distance - if the ravager can even get a lock at all.

There are parts of his solo which are played far too cautiously and it actually costs him as a consequence; going on the aggressive could have saved him time and consumables but that's the benefit of spectating afterwards.

Seen as how Spectre is one of only two people I know of who's solo'd platinum at 120+ with no shield boosting gear and no wallhack, I'd say its still a pretty damn impressive display - not a week after the difficulty was released, when you consider just how many subtle fps incurred changes have an affect on gameplay.

Running around immune to bullets 80% of the time as a novaguard @60fps just doesn't stack up. You can nova cancel your way through anything with just a little timing.

With enemies reacting in less than half the time than they do at 60fps, Spectre's solo remains the most impressive solo we've ever seen. His time is not impressive, his play style and metagame are, however.

Man, while I kinda agree with some of the things you said, you should probably think about what impressive means. It's, by its own nature, something extremely subjective. So this you exposed here is your opinion, and yours only.

And while, as I said, mine happens to be somewhat in line, you still can't say "this is the best solo we've ever seen". You can say that, however, if you add something little like "in my opinion" :P Which I usually take for granted when I discuss in a forum, but given your wording, I felt compelled to point that out :P

Biased opinion of spectre obviously. There are some soloers here in like manner that have unimpressive times but display exceptional skill and handling that rivals and even surpasses that of your lord spectre. Yes console included

Ya I'm with you. Kroguard/Incendiary Reegar may be OP, but crushing Plat in 20 min is still pretty dam impressive. When I eventually complete my next plat solo (with the same kit) it will likely be over 40 min

I would also like to point out that the fastest kroguard plat solo belongs to Hendrix, and not to Xcal.

You have dumb*ss AI and terrible controllers, if you feel like you've got something to prove you can always try and compete with the big boys, instead of always telling us how grown up you are.

@me0120

FPS is everything; and the way I see it we have only one documented "hardcore" platinum solo; no cyclonic, no wallhack at 120fps... with all the BS that entails, and the handful of perks it provides.

OP asked for the most impressive platinum solo, and I provided some pretty stellar reasons why Spectre's solo is the most impressive. The combination of factors which are unappreciated by most (how many of you would have noticed the ~2 second longer shield regen times if I hadn't pointed them out?) and the fact that the video has what, nigh-on 100,000 views? Kinda speaks for itself.

Watch here. He loses a medigel, because he has no other options. He didn't make a mistake, he didn't play badly, he just needs to make a break for it and loses a gel because of it. The AI tracks him through a sprint, and hits him with every shot. It's that kind of punishment that makes this solo impressive. The AI literally gives no f*cks.

Yup, I am aware of that, all I'm saying is that xcal's time is right up there w/ the best of them, and he's far from the only one out there w/ a kroGuard/Reegar/Inc IV platinum video. His is flawless, though, so there is always that.

What? Why did he have to die there? Nothing was to his right yet, he could've waited for the Atlas to transition to rockets.

Sorry. I forgot everything Anno says is right. Won't happen again. I promise.

That would've taken a while, because the Atlas already shot a rocket like 4 seconds before that. Then, he hould have been caught by the Banshee.

You just trash talked every solo ever recorded on console. Yer no better than penguin fetish. I don't know who u think u are that I/we console soloers should subject ourselves to your biased standards of "impressive". High tier controls = Higher FPS. Lower tier controls = lower fps. It all balances out. Your FSP arguments are getting old. Please stop..

Doubt it, the Typhoon could've done enough damage to make her stop jumping long enough to make the transition. That was back when the Typhoon had full penetration and he could've been shooting her through cover. There was no direct pressure at that moment to move, but like Anno said, he was being overly cautious. In the end it worked out just fine for him.
