I was born and bred in Sheldonopolis on Sheldon 5, of the Sheldon Galaxy. It was a fun place... till the cyborgs came.
I was the only survivor... My Shelmother and Shelfather were scientists working on a prototype for a 1-person space pod for a space travel, and at the time, I was visiting (it was bring your child to work day). When the "Shelborgs," as we called them, arrived and began killing everyone in their path, my Shelparents hastily grabbed me and put me into the prototype, hoping it would take me to a planet far from there, where I could live my life anew.
That's when I came to Earth. I plunged into the ground. Outside my space pod were a family of you humans standing there, all aquiver. I told them what happened, and where I'm from, and they told me where I was. They told me I was on Earth, and in a country known as Australia. Their capital city. Canberra, to be precise.
I was 7 then...
They took me in as their own son... and here I am.

Scotland, United Kingdom. Whether or not it remains in the UK remains to be seen. Personally, I couldn't care less.
Pros: Plethora of accents, many of which are utterly ridiculous. Enables a 'normal' English speaker, such as myself, from west central to understand pretty much any English speaker, regardless of their accent.
Cons: Windy, rains a lot, big drug culture, casual racism & homophobia.

I was born and raised in northeast Florida. Currently live in St. Augustine. We are an odd mixture of northern Yankees who have moved down here, old people who have retired here, native Floridians (some of which are rednecks), and Canadian snowbirds who flock down here during the winter months. It's pretty cool, though. Oldest continually-inhabited settlement in the United States. And, much like Rainbow Kitty, people are surprised I am not a redneck that owns an alligator (although I am a little bit redneck, and I root for the University of Florida Gators, so there you go). I live roughly 1.5 hours northeast of all the theme parks in Orlando that typically jump to the forefront of people's minds when they think of my state. Also, about a 5 minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean.
Unlike Rainbow Kitty, I won't mention what my state looks like because that would violate the forum's TOS. ![]()

Your last point cannot be emphasized enough. I visited Louisiana for the first time ever last October... went to Baton Rouge for the Florida vs LSU football game. Now, I have attended Florida games at home in The Swamp all my life. I have NEVER been as miserably hot in my life than when I was at Tiger Stadium. That was a bowl of humid swamp air the likes of which I never knew existed. ![]()

Not to be confused with Idaho, Ohio, etc. it happens surprisingly often, I find.
Pros? Well, you learn to make your own fun, as there's a whole lot of nothing to do here, otherwise.
Cons? I think I just covered that, too.
