If you want to get the true flavour of the original spelljammer setting and you would like to do it without having to wade through all the rule books, modules, etc. you have three choices. Continually ask questions of those that know, somehow get your hands on the spelljammer comic book(s) or read the Cloakmaster Cycle. Now I don't know how, where or how much the comic book option would be so I will deal with the six books of the cycle.
From the pricing when I could finally get around to buy them, it would appear that as the series progressed, TSR made fewer and fewer copies for sale which I beleive was common practice back then. Anyway here is the list. I would recommend the first three to gain maximum benefit without having to spend a fortune. I will give the current UK prices on Amazon for the used version, which I suspect will be reflected world wide as most of the sellers are in the USA. I will not include the postage charge as everyone of them (by all the sellers) is charged at £2.80 which appears to be a standard rate.
Book 1 "Beyond the Moons" by David Cook - £0.01
Book 2 "Into the Void" by Nigel Findlay - £0.01
Book 3 "The Maelstrom's Eye" by Roger E. Moore - £0.01
Book 4 "The Radiant Dragon" by Elaine Cunningham - £0.01
Book 5 "The Ultimate Helm" by Russ T Howard - £5.44
Book 6 "The Broken Sphere" by Nigel Findlay - £0.01
The prices of all the later books have decreased since I bought mine so I would heartily recommend that now is the best time since when they were published to buy them if that is your wont.
