I know this isn't Scuttlebutt, but PC file transfer help? Tech forum is closed, it seems.

Sorry again, devs, mods, etc.,  but I wanted to ask a PC tech help question.

By Andraste's breath, I modded the Fade out of my Dragon Age Origins game on my PC, and it was a ton of work, putting things where they belong, in My Documents, etc, and, well, my laptop is finally dying, and I'm getting a new one.

If I do a harddrive copy to an external HD, can I then just copy it to the new laptop and resume? I'm as PC tech savy as a walrus with nearsighted vision. My crowning achievement was getting my VCR to stop blinking 12:00.

Any help, advice, pointers or etc, would be SUPER helpful!

  1. From your old computer, move your Bioware folder (in My Documents) to your external hard drive.
  2. On your new computer, install Origins.
  3. After Origins is done installing, move the Bioware folder from your external hard drive to your My Documents folder (on the new PC).
  4. Resume as normal.

I also recommend backing up a second copy of your Bioware folder somewhere else (on your external hard drive or even a cloud-based service like google drive), in case things go awry. Have fun.

Many thanks for this ^ I lost a whole batch of Wardens through bad button pressing.  Is it a worthwhile to do a vanilla game on a new machine first or just go ahead and activate the mods too.
