I've been wondering something about getting started in ME 2. Altough I'm interested in save file transfer, I think I still might go with starting anew. What I've been thinking about is that exactly how much power I will have over the decisions made in ME 1 when I start completely new game. As far as I know there will be some sort of a dialogue at the beginning where you'll be brought up to date with what's going on and there you'll decide what you did in the first game. But how deep does this conversation go? Of course there will be the major plot points and all but how about your reaction to Conrad Verner for example? Will I be able to affect these seemingly small pieces of game in the start or should I just go play ME 1 and do all the things the way I want them to be in the second game? I'd really be happy if the conversation would give me the option to go into detail because I'm not sure if I have the time to play the game through before the launch date because of my studies and all.
By the way, thank you Bioware for ruining my social life with your games but it was totally worth it.

Luckily, my wife is a gamer too so there's really no "social" life to destroy in my case....My wife is a DA Fangirl and Im a ME Fanboy...But both of us love BioWare in general lol

From what I've heard, it basically lets you choose the major plot points (Basically, the main quest points) and that is. So if the sidequests in ME1 affect ME2, only transfers will get the benefit of those. But I have no real evidence and don't even remember where I read that. But its logical to assume it wont ask you about every single little thing. *shrug*

There are literally hundreds of things that the save files transfer over. You will only be able to change a very small amount of things when you create a new unimported game.
If you have ME1, they've said constantly that importing is by far the best thing to do.

Yeah, I know it would be kinda stupid if you were asked things like "did you do the sidequest named..." But still, if there's any released info about this matter, I'd be happy to receive it.
