^ Don't host. Notice memory leak & potato frames are much better avoided while playing off host on PS3. Makes sense too. More processing power is handled by the host. Heck, I'm already starting to save my rockets on wave 8 double Praetorians, because it's much more likely the host will crash before me.

 

Happens even when I don't host :/

Hosting or not, it happens. What happens when I host is for some specific combinations of map, enemies and difficulty, I get DCed. I'm not the only with this issue.

And maybe you don't notice the extra frame loss having only played on PS3. But for me coming off 60fps PC manifest onto the PS3, I very much notice the extra frame drops from hosting on PS3. More noticeable on certain maps and faction then others, obviously. But for anybody who wants an easy test to spot frame issues on PS3, just spin your camera around in circles from time to time as a very easy to spot potato frames. Especially on trouble maps like Goddess.

 

I also notice the longer matches takes, the more memory leak kick in. So unless you're playing with BSNers all the time that melt waves in seconds, you're going to get memory leak no matter what. Why I always restart after every 3-4 matches. And if I play Collectors, I restart even after one match.

I see. But sometimes I PUG for hours and no freeze... Yesterday I was using Indra and it froze 2x in a short period. Not sure if the Indra was consuming too much of the system.

 

Restarting once in a while can help indeed. Try to do that more often. Tks!

I have to agree with Sinful re hosting. If I host, some maps will cripple my frames straight from the off. Even with good maps, my third game will be an endurance test. On the plus side, we won't roll Collectors unless it's on a predetermined map like Glacier.

But if I don't host, and avoid Collectors or a couple of hazard maps, I can play indefinitely.

I've never noticed the Indra having an effect, only the Fury and Awakened Collector.

There is something a find very annoying: I go for a PUG Gold, and I equip myself. Then I fall into a GIP against Collectors, with PUGs that aren't up to the challenge (including myself). I can play Gold against any faction (with a decent team) but Collectors. It's a REALLY bad experience.

 

What happens then? I quit and lose my equip :/

Like Loufi says, you may get to keep your equipment if you immediately leave.

 

IMO re the Collectors, once you get used to their attack animations and tactics, they become one of the most predictable factions in the game. their big squishy heads don't do well vs good guns and they suck vs biotics.

 

When the Collectors were first introduced, i found most pug teams would give up in any match that rolled Collectors. Like most players thought they wouldn't win anyways, so why bother using that gel.

Funny you mentioned the Indra. I too find that some auto weapons do the same as you say. And it does make sense, as when I use an auto fire controller for the Mattock, the game starts dropping frames and sound. ie. memory leaking.

No. Wait for the host to quit or freeze. With host migration comes keeping your consumables. Then you can quit if you want. But Collectors are awesome to fight. Just harder on newer players.

Both. The rule of thumb says if you don't fire a shot or spend consumables you can return to the lobby where you slots will be empty, but your consumables returned. The space magic part says that it's buggy and that sometimes consumable count is returned and often not.

Bsn'ers run like drunk cockroaches anyway, so no amount of coordination will amount to anything - ( speedruns excluded)

One wishes that there was some minimum coordination command set in prep for me:a mp - but if the first two stickies is not even read by mr.scorewar after 3 months, what are the chances of a raw occasional player wasting time on it? Sigh

Yes, I noticed this too. But it's not that reliable.

 

Ultimate answer is to pick a setup that's OP enough without any consumables. For me on PS3 it's TSol Hurricane 3 with Barrage Gear. I also use it as a Turian stability test. If I find something not to my liking, like Turian stability not working. I bail.
