I'm going to try. After I had those 6 freezes in 2 nights.... I think my playstation is about to die, I now can't get any of my other games to play. The Last of Us won't even go past the title screen without freezing and it makes the system restart without me doing anything... and the disc drive is making a strange grinding type of noise. Sucks cuz I recently started playing Infamous 2 and I really liked it. When I looked up these problems, most of the things said that my internal hard drive is most likely damaged and that the gears in my disc drive are on the verge of failure.

Try this:

Use the PS3 Safe Mode. See here: http://community.us....DE/td-p/5812274

Do a "Restore File System" and then immediately afterward a "Rebuild Database".

Then do this:

-PLAYSTATION 3 OPTIMAL SETTINGS-
Here are the recommended settings for the PlayStation 3 Console. Any settings that are not listed here you can set to what ever you prefer. If a setting is not listed here and you don't know what that setting does then it is best to leave it on defaults, (or set it back to defaults if you've already changed it).

NOTE: Depending on which PS3 model you have you might not have access to some of the settings. If that is the case then don't worry, just skip the settings that your PS3 model does not have.

A good place to start is to set all of the settings on your PlayStation 3 console back to defaults. On the XMB go to the "System Settings" tab and look for an option that says something like "Restore Default Settings" and be sure to choose it and choose "Yes" when it asks you if you are sure you want to do this. If you can't find this setting in the "System Settings" tab then search the entire XMB until you find it. Once you have restored default settings the console will restart. Here are the recommended settings:

-GAME SETTINGS-
PS - Upscaler: Normal
PS - Smoothing: Off

-VIDEO SETTINGS-
BD - Internet Connection: Allow
BD/DVD - Cinema Conversion: Automatic
DVD - Wide Display: Letterbox
BD/DVD Upscaler: Normal
BD/DVD - Video Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr
1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI): Off (unless you are absolutely sure that your TV supports this feature 100%)
BD/DVD - Dynamic Range Control: Off
BD/DVD - Audio Output Format (HDMI): Linear PCM
BD - Audio Output Format (Optical Digital): Bitstream (Mix)
Seqeuntial Playback: Off
50 Hz Video Output: Automatic

-MUSIC SETTINGS-
Audio CD Import: AAC 320 kbps
Crossfade Playback: Off
Output Freqeuncy: 44.1/88.2/176.4 kHz
Bitmapping: Type 3
Dynamic Normaliser: Off

-SYSTEM SETTINGS-
Display [What's New]: Off

-DISPLAY SETTINGS-
Video Output Settings: In most cases it is best to let the PS3 auto-detect your video output settings and adjust them automatically. So just choose "Auto" or "Easy" setup. Be sure to select the correct connection type you are using, (such as Component or HDMI). Also be sure to select ALL of the resolutions that are supported by your TV. This will ensure that the PS3 always automatically chooses the best resolution based on the source material.

Cross Colour Reduction Filter: Off
RGB Full Range (HDMI): Limited
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White (HDMI): On
Deep Colour Output (HDMI): Off

-SOUND SETTINGS-
Audio Output Settings: In most cases it is best to let the PS3 auto-detect your Audio Output Settings. So just choose "Auto" or "Easy" setup. However, if you have your PS3 connected to a specialised audio device, such as a Home Theater System or an Audio Receiver or a Sound Bar, then you are going to want to set these settings yourself. In that case choose the correct audio connection that you are using (Optical, HDMI, etc.) and then select the correct audio output and speaker setup for your device. It is recommended to choose Dolby as your audio format, because on the PS3 Dolby seems to give better quality than DTS.

Audio Multi-Output: Off
Key Tone: On

-NETWORK SETTINGS-
Internet Connection: Enabled
Internet Connection Settings: In most cases you should let your PS3 auto-detect and automatically set these settings. So just choose "AUTO" or "EASY" setup. Be sure to set the MTU setting to "AUTO", and DO NOT USE a proxy server. Also be sure that UPnP is enabled/available. If however you are experiencing problems with your Internet connection then you might want to manually set these settings. In that case you are going to have to find out what all the settings are for your MODEM/Router/Internet Device as well as the settings for your Internet Service Provider and then manually input all these settings.

Media Server Connection: Disabled (The reason for this is because having this enabled seems to interfere with the Internet connection somehow for some people, and will cause all kinds of problems with your connection to the Internet. From unexplained lag to game updates failing mid download. Many people find that disabling Media Server Connection fixes these problems. To date it has never been found out why enabling Media Server Connection has this effect on some Internet connections. Contacting SONY about this has yielded no results.)

Then, completely delete any and all data of the game or games that are giving problems on your PS3. Reinstall or re-download said games from scratch. If the problems still persist after doing all this then try to either switch to the digital version of the offending games or replace your PS3 Blu-Ray Drive. If that still does not fix the problem then it could be that your PS3 Hard Drive is what is causing the problems. In this case it's time to get a new Hard Drive. How old is your PS3 Hard Drive? Generally Hard Drives only last for about 4 years before they start acting up. If your Hard Drive is 4 years or older then it's time to get a new one. As a last resort you could try to format your Hard Drive (full format), as that could breathe new life into it. At least for a time.

Pierogi logs on to AHF, see familiar faces and leave after 2 minutes without saying "hi" like a civilized potato.
Lurker, chloroform or civilized?
Who cares after doing this 20 times in a row?

As BSN is getting nuked, I'll leave this here:

AHF has moved on to PSN. I'd like to encourage every PS4 BSN-er to join us, as we are an amazing community that has held together ever since ME3 came out, and we'll keep going in Andromeda too! We will preserve the spirit of BSN. We currently have 60+ ME3MP veterans in our group, and had over 500 members during the 4 years ME3 had been out.

To get an invite to our PSN community, send me a message on PSN (XAN1_95).

It has been a good time, my friends. RIP MP forums.
