A good character in my opinion. Gets called a whiner, which he most assuredly isn't.
Hopefully he and Ash retain individual roles, and one doesn't simply replace the other Virmire survivor for the exact same plot function.

The thing I didn't really like about him or Ashley was how they seemed so generic. All the aliens had these sweet-ass class names, like Turian Agent and Krogan Warlord, but for them it's just sentinel or soldier (which should have been marine because there's a difference). I'm kinda worried that Jacob is going to be really generic, too.

Not enough to spell his name right, though!
J/K... sort of.

He's a Cerberus Operative, so at least he has his own class.nteger wrote...
He's the kind of person I would make my second in command. He's also the kind of person I would sacrifice to save someone else because I know he would be cool with it.

But I didn't really mind that with Kaidan. Sentinels are very versatile, they could fill the required tech slot AND use biotics.

The aliens probably felt the same way about the humans.
GARRUS: Boy, I wish I could be an Infiltrator instead of a crummy ol' "Agent." Lucky humans...

I don't understand this either. He has the same voice as Carth, so he *is* Carth? That's silly.
By the way, I did like Carth, but I understand why people call him a "whiner." Not so with Kaidan...

The reason I don't like him is because he's so reasonable and pessimistic and cynical.
He is? In what way is he pessimistic and cynical? I don't get that at all.

I like him more than Ash, but she was a woman and women and kids are always hum-dee-dumed first, so I had to let Kaidan get verschamatztgesund. Then I just kinda froze Ash out and stopped talking to her in passive-agressive rage.

I like Kaidan. He is very kind-hearted and leveled person. And his abs...
Oh yes...one must not forget those abs.
I loved Kaidan. I thought his backstory was much more interesting than Liara's or Ash's. And I admire him for making something of his life after having a not so good experience at Jump Zero. Someone else might have gone in another direction. I will say this though...he played much differently depending on whether you had femshep or maleshep and was much more likable with femshep.

While Carth 3.0 is a lot less annoying than Carth 1.0, I have to say that he's far from the best character in the game. They still haven't debugged the whining glitch, where he cries into your shoulder about his problems the whole conversation. At least he apologizes for it now.
You're exaggerating.
Interesting, how some people say he's "barely there", whereas others insist he whines and cries on your shoulder. Not very consistent, for sure.
