Shepard's body is too narrow and slender. Along with her stiff run she looks like a really tall former gymnast (very narrow hipped...manish). Can the human women get the same TLC afforded to Quarian women because I want women with curves, I want Shep to look strong but still look like a woman. For a subtle image of what a real athletic woman looks like:

Women come in all shapes and sizes, but I digress.  I do personally prefer Femshep's ME2 body to her ME3 version (edit: though it may just be how she looks in the black dress).

FemShep looked more like a pornstar than a soldier...

That's just my opinion though, no need to go spreading it around

I'm hoping for more body customization options across the board in future games. But I definitely agree that the body shape of FemShep didn't look like a soldier to me, not even an athlete like a dancer or a gymnast or something. Her body looked more like a runway model, which, not to body shame anyone, but seems like it's not fitting for someone who has seen the level of combat that Shepard has seen or the pounds of armor that she has to wear.

Of course, I'm also against the chiseled abs for the male characters - it doesn't seem fitting for a biotic to have the level of muscular definition that Kaidan has in the romance scene, I found the naked body shape for male characters from ME1 much more fitting.

Did you see how she ran in ME2? I had to headcanon that Garrus was to hard on her and her pelvis had been broken. Poor girl

Heh, well that's one way to explain it I guess.  I kind of liked how she ran, though *shrugs*.  She appears much more, well, delicate in ME3 when she runs outside of combat.

Huh. Given what we're normally assaulted with in terms of female characters in video games, I actually thought Shepard's body and movements were pretty good. She seemed feminine to me yet still strong.

I hope that they give FemNew her own animations instead of BroNew's hand me downs. And if it's not to much to ask can we have a FemShep with an athletic looking build?

Maybe not necessarily "curves," but Shepard could have definitely done with more muscle.  She had noodle arms in ME3.  That's not what I'd expect to see in a soldier.  to be fair, supposedly the Mass Effect verse has soldiers undergo mandatory genetic enhancement, not to mention Shepard's gotten a lot of cybernetics implanted by ME3.  So, she's probably tougher than she looks.

I'd actually expect a more androgynous look in a soldier than how Shepard looks, though--especially while in armor.  A soldier's generally in shape, so she probably isn't going to be huge-chested (Shepard isn't anyway), but she'll have bigger muscles in her torso and arms.  Combine that with the bulk of her armor, and she should barely look different from a guy.  She should move slightly different (no DA2 butt wagging, she isn't a puppy with a docked tail), and of course her face, hair, etc. should indicate she's a lady.  But since this is a game, of course everyone wants it to be clear, if they pick a female character, that she's female--through more means than just her voice actor.

Posters above are right--everyone's body is different.  But, Female Shepard never looked like any sort of athlete to me--the other poster who said she looks like the fashion model/actress body type that the media is pushing right now has hit the nail on the head, I think.

I'd just be happy if she didn't have noodle arms.  The rest could stay the same.  Not every woman has super-wide hips and I'd rather not every female in-game be Tali's body double.

my biggest problem with femshep's body was how her arms bend, I mean at times it just "unnatural".

In all seriousness ~ I hope we can give our character more weight in the next mass effect games, whatever the gender is

More customisation would be good but please let's not go down the "every woman has to look like a pornstar" route. Go outside and have a look around at what most women actually look like.

At least her armour doesn't have a cleavage window.

She looked better in ME2 especially in the black dress. In ME3 its like her upper body lost weight making her look thinner than she needs to be. I will say she looks good in the Collector armor and the Blood Dragon armor

more curves on npcs? haha youre kidding me right? at least as far as female squadmates go (me2/3), that is way off

I agree as far as generic human females/asari go though, most (if not all?) have the exact same body type, so it would be nice to see some different body types. you have to consider though, that in past games (not me1) all the squad had their own unique body type (at least females) and trying to have different body types for npcs would have been lower priority

but I agree on femshep, she definitely looks more like a civilian woman than a military woman...I mean I haven't really seen many military women, but I am betting that they pack a fair amount of muscle. and like others have said, this wouldn't really be curves as muscle doesn't equate to curves, it would be a little bit more fleshed out, but not more "curvy". and I would not want my shep to look like a man, even in armor. I want the distinction to be there, because you can be feminine and still be a bad-***

I thought they did do a good job with the armour though.

Many women in the military can barely do 3 straight pull ups let alone come out looking like olympic athletes, muscular, or lean. Some come out heavier. As seen in the link above, those ladies can crush a mans head with their thighs. They are curvy (narrow waist/wider hips/tight round elevated posterior) but muscled. They look like women. Femshep has a boy body/pancake butt in ME1/2 and in ME3 she went full "heroine chic"...she got a slight butt upgrade though.I don't want a women who looks like she is trying to be a man. A women dosen't have to look like this to be taken seriously as a soldier:

??? you don't know many female student athletes, do you?

I know a lot of women that are fit, lean, and some that are even muscular (comparatively speaking), and look nothing like your samba dancer. they are feminine and they are lean, they are muscular but still maintain their curves without being huge in any area (like the dancer) and they could put that dancer in her place any day of the week. i wasn't disagreeing with you (not really), i actually did agree with you, i was just saying that since the female protagonist would be a military type, her body type would be more lean and less curvy compared to the dancers.

A heptathalete would be a good model given the variety of disciplines they must compete in; and in the future with powered armour you'd expect raw strength to be less important over stamina etc.

Not every female character should be muscular. Jack, Liara, and Miranda all looked fine, as none of them were soldiers.

A more muscular build would make some sense if the character comes from a special operations background though.

Some women dont look muscular but are strong, some look muscular but are not. Its not just the visible muscle. human body is incredibly complex and the way a person looks depends on a variety of factors. Rather than more/less curvy versions of the same body I would like to see more diversity in the people be it human or asari or turian.

This mod at least resolves the issue of FemShep's noodly arms.

I dare say she looks a hell of a lot better.

I'd actually settle for a female character that actually runs properly.
