Only one moon that I could see in camp, looking up takes a bit of angle shifting on my PC.

This is from the trailer - if that is a Moon, isn't it a bit close?

The Moon illusion is an optical illusion in which the Moon appears larger near the horizon than it does while higher up in the sky.

Well, there's no reason why months have to be calculated by moon cycles at all.  Most standard calendars in the real world certainly don't correspond to moon cycles any longer.

Thats becouse we(europe) now use solar calendar

Old Slavs used solo-lunar calendar (pretty much as china)
So they know what to expect
And also had 6 or 7sometimes even 8 seasons and it all depended on moon phases, how far we are from sun, in what direction we face the sun etc. And it was used for agronomy, so it had to be accurate

I think the two moons thing is just something they added as an after-thought to make to make it more fantasy-esque (like Nirn for instance, which has two "moons", but they're not really moons or maybe they are, I never understood if TES cosmology was how it actually was or just mythology).

Even though there's only one moon in the game, and the second moon is never talked about.

Unless they like to say that the other moon is hiding on the other side of the planet, or is pebble sized, then I don't see how anyone on Thedas would know it exists.

:o maybe its like greek mythology

if moon will hide the sun and all other planets and its moons will be in row with it, it will release titans from Tartaros

DA-if moons will get on above the other and they will hide the sun it will cause veil tears

Well, looks like others are having the same thought I did.

Maybe it's just an Ultima-revival-nostalgia moment. But: might it be that the position of the two moons relates to the opening of the veil tears?

Could it be that this might be the first DA game, with a new engine, where we can see both moons in the sky? And that their position might relate to the above, or something else in the game?

Some of the ancient civilizations, like the Achaemenid Empire, had solar calendar. During the medieval era of Europe the Iranians developed a solar calendar again, after centuries of using the Islamic lunar calendar. The Greeks and the Aztechs also had ways of calculating Sun's position and its supposed orbit around the earth.

So, Tevinter or the ancient elves using a solar calendar and calculating their "months"* using the sun's position isn't that far-fetched.

(* I mean, the Iranians of today even literally use the persian word for Moon to indicate a month, despite it having nothing to do with the moon. Could be a remnant from centuries of using a lunar calendar in between.)

Of course it's real...

CybAnt1 already gave you several links that show planets can have multiple moons. You can pick up a telescope and point it at Jupiter yourself and clearly see it has at least 4 moons.

Many planets in our own solar system have multiple moons.

Jupiter and Saturn have around 60 each.

depends on what you call moon

if you will call all bigger stones moons then yes

if you call only round balls moons then its much less than 60 and mars has no moon
