I may be one person, but the Alistair, Zevran, and Kaidan fans are a whole lot more.  Anecdotal evidence is a thing, and so are surveys and studies.  It could be qunari fans aren't very vocal.  I also point out that most people are women... and "most" can be about 51%, it doesn't have to be 99% or 80% or anything like that.  But fine, I'll only speak for me, myself and I if you insist.  I know I don't speak for all women and that is why I never claimed I did.

Want me to stop generalizing?  Fine.  I personally, and most of the people I know, do not prefer heavily built men.  Culturally there are certainly places where the heavier look is preferred.  Culturally there are places where softer-bodied men are preferred.  And individually preferences are varied as the rainbow and then some.  Majorities tend to fall within a certain spectrum of that rainbow, but there are always exceptions even within the same individual.  Sandal 2.0's qunari still wasn't a hottie to me--but give him some nice abs and a wider face and his friendly look alone would make him a whole lot hotter than any other qunari I've seen yet.

Honestly dont even know what the topic of this debate was anymore and really dont care to continue it since i was ok with dropping it completely

@Brass_Buckles ^What she said.

And to hammer the point home, here's the deal. All those scenes with cleavage a'flashin' are designed to appeal to the male gamers. The scenes that generally appeal to the women gamers are the talky bits, where character gets developed and exposed. You know, the stuff you hit the escape key to fast forward through. Alistair fans refer more to his adorkability than to his manly physique. That's a big hint right there.

Really, youre going to make that assumption out of thin air?

What kind of weapons did Rasaan use? I may use her as a base for one of my Qunari Females. I really like the face.

From the looks of it, her bare hands?

Hmm, and considering she was Tamassran, I guess Mage would fit best. That or maybe Rogue.

Not quite. Me finding them attractive (which I do) is a personal preference. Their level of sexualization is less so. When I say there was nothing alluring about them, I mean in the sense that the game didn't focus on their physique with pandering shots or poses. As I said, sexualization is more than how something looks.

Taking account that you dont need to get into a pose or have any pandering shots to show off a shirtless qunari, i disagree

Nah, if she were a mage, she'd be chained up since she's part of the Qun.  She's a priestess, essentially. So if forced to fight, I would think she'd go with light weaponry. (Think Leliana). So probably a rogue.

I was thinking of her Vashoth counterpart I may use her as a base for, but that is a good point. She threatened to use Qamek, which is a poison so Rogue fits

She kind of looks Mage-y. It'd be nice if she was.

But yeah, more than likely a Rogue since she's part of the Qun. I wonder why didn't have a dagger or something and just dual Isabela?

This precisely, it's all about the presentation and the intent.  "Sexy" doesn't mean "sexualized."  I can draw an attractive character hanging out and he or she is just an attractive character hanging out, even if he or she is totally naked.

It's how I pose that character, and what I emphasize on him or her, that makes it sexualized or not.  Just having a body someone considers sexy doesn't mean it's sexualized.  And, Mihura's right, nudity alone doesn't mean sexualized either, or we'd all be saying broodmothers are sexualized.  And now that needs to become a trope.

Here is a link to a study that found that the ideal male body marketed to men is more muscular than the ideal male body marketed to women:

http://www.sscnet.uc...ckbodyimage.pdf

This assumes the magazines studied have researched their target demographics well enough to accurately represent them, but that seems fair to me. If you look at the body type the women's magazine most commonly featured it doesn't look super muscular at all.

I think the heavy muscles on male qunari are definitely meant to make them look imposing, not attractive. They also have ugly faces in my opinion, where as the female qunari have almost exactly the same face as human models. Although since we haven't seen a screenshot of them yet I'm hoping maybe they just don't have the details exactly figured out.

I don't want the women to look ugly or anything I just want them to have more unique facial features and at least a slightly more imposing figure. I don't even really care if they have big breasts or wear skimpy clothing (but I do think that's overdone).

I thought so at first to due to her wearing robes, but Rogue overall may fir better. Depends on backstory too I guess.

Anyway, thank you Justinia and sandal. ^_^

That's the point...the showing off. It depends upon the gaze of the camera along with the characterization. If on was to see a man shirtless with his arms crossed, there's nothing inherently sexual about it. Basically Brass upthread has completely explored my entire sentiment.

One man's/woman's Fugly is another man's/woman's Gorgie.
I like how the qunari females look in the comic, although i'd prefer to see an more "toned/muscular" version in the game.

Seriously though, all this talk about the difference in appearance between male and female Qunari reminds me of the Twi'leks from Star Wars, where the men were muscular yet not that attractive while the women were fit and really attractive.

Am I mistaken or was something said, at one point or another, about qunari mages not being playable in DAI?  I really want qunari mages to happen because I love to play mages.

Hm.  Actually that brings up the thought that we'll probably have at least two body models for the qunari females even if mages end up not being playable.  In both games so far, warrior, rogue, and mage all had different body types.  So we could still get the more athletic look with the qunari female warrior, while maybe you're right and the delicate look is actually a mage.

Maybe the warrior ladies will have bigger horns, too? ... Hm.  I really hope horns are customizable...

Also I just realized my previous post basically summarized much more succinctly EVERYTHING I was trying to say in that huge post I made before.  I wish I could do that all the time instead of wasting so much time and so many words trying to explain myself...

Still there is nothing wrong with ugly since the same is done with male too. The solution is easy, to the same to all genders and have some diversity, that way everyone is happy. I just do not get why they have to stay with only one type of face features and body.

We will be able to play a Qunari Mage because the Qunari Inquisitor will be Vashoth.

Really? All my Wardens and Hawkes had the same body regardless of class. Also Bioware said the bodies are preset to be one per race-gender, so you can't for example make them fat.

We all hope for customizable horns.

Maybe it was just the armor?  I know the guys at least all had different bodies.  Like Alistair had the standard warrior body, but if you were a rogue I think you were leaner.  Or maybe I'm COMPLETELY misremembering and it's just elf vs. human... This is sad, I'm actually in an early replay of the game and I don't know!!!!

I think you are mixing your elf with your human. The armor is probably what does it since Warriors can wear heavier armors, thus look bigger.

And let's not forget that at least in KOTOR 1, not the MMO but the original RPG, the male Twi'lek were supposed to be considered attractive to women.  Maybe someone thought so, but I didn't.

I can see where they are to appear attractive, for example their body structure is muscular but not overly so and thus attracts women who like that. I think just when comparing them to the females of the race they appear ugly.

Anyway, let's stop before this gets offtopic. I can talk about Star Wars for a long time, so better end it before I get invested. ^_^

Considering the Arishock has belts over his chest, and most of the dialogue with him has him leaning forward or is shot from just below his neck line. It's not like they went out of their way to show it off either.

Qunari are basically big bad and hulky giants right? (and grey)

While I KNOW that "women don't fight in the Qun wah wah wah" GIVE ME ABS ON THAT WOMAN! Give me muscle! Give me raw power!

I don't want an over-sized female human, if anything, I want them to be a mix between WoW's draenei and Skyrim/WoW's orcs.

Or at least; give me the OPTION to add muscle.

That's just the difference between elf and human models I'm afraid. Though the Mage robes in the Circle did make the mages seem a little pudgy around the middle.
