Being a console user, I don't get to enjoy the fruits of the modding tree, but I must admit that even I'd be a tad disappointed if the game was not mod friendly. Some of them can be pretty amusing, or at least give some players to take the opportunity to improve the look of something. Nothing beats Skryim's macho man dragon mod, though.

Same, as a console user I'm pretty jealous as well. I love all of those cosmetic mods and the extra little tidbits that benefit gameplay.
if the game does have mod support, i will be very VERY pissed at DICE.
Why would you be pissed if the game did have mod support ?
BF 4 is a heavy multiplayer focused game. Mod support is rare for multiplayer due to cheating concerns. Getting pissed at DICE if DAI has mod support is ridiculous.
battlefield 2 was also A HEAVY MULTIPLAYER FOCUSED GAME and it had mods, i don't see how ridiculous that can be.

No, but i'd be pissed at DICE for lying to their community.
I really hope it does have mod support. I doubt it will, if the Mass Effect games and DA2 are any indication--but it's a new engine, so they could possibly release a mod kit and if they do, it will be glorious.
When mods are available for a game, I tend to go crazy with them. I LOVE mods. I mod the graphics if I don't think they look as well as my computer can easily handle. I add mods for the gameplay to boost immersion, or make the game easier or harder as I see fit.
The only time I wouldn't mod is if there were multiplayer. It's prevented me from nabbing any of the mods for ME3 that I know are out there. I'm too chicken that I'd accidentally modify something that affects multiplayer.
Having said all of that, it would be in the EA's best interests if they did release a modding toolkit. Mods can greatly extend the life of a game and keep people playing for a much longer time than they would without those mods--and now and then a really good modder may find themselves part of a game development team, which is a win for the company since they can get new, fresh ideas and talent, and a win for the modder because a lot of them would love to be in the game industry.

I dont think its about lying, so much as it is about of the game its self. As someone else mentioned... usually multilayer games are not really mod friendly due to cheating and such, while sp games doesn't really matter , also if I remember right, the mods for BF weren't that much compared to lets say DAO. But the BW devs have stated that they are not quite sure about the game being mod friendly due to 3rd party software licensing issues... so unless they figure that out in some way I doubt they will have a tool-set, although, ppl always find ways to make mods even without tool-kits, so Im sure there will be *some* mods but dont expect anything too "grand"
Didn't the Dev's say that they weren't working on any mod tool anytime soon? I also don't understand why Battlefield and DA:I are being compared regarding mods.

Yeah, me either. DAI will be (at least mostly) singleplayer...

Mainly same engine, but some people don't seem to realise the two games are entirely different in every other aspect.

There are different forms of multiplayer. If DAI and next ME had some sort of multiplayer story mode, they could base it on SWTOR flashpoints (short multiplayer set piece scenario mixed with conversations and combat). If that was the case one way of extending the life of the product indefinitely would be to allow users to create their own. After a period of time, the best user created ones could be voted in as official and distributed to consoles via dlc. It might take quite a bit of effort to develop the tools to an extent to allow this but I believe there would be massive benefit.

Indeed that would be awesome. I'm personally fine if they have some sort of multiplayer aspect ala NWN, SWTOR or ME 3, as long as the campaign is great. But BF 4 is much more competitive, so I think comparing mods of it versus some sort of tool set for sharing adventures in Inquisition is ridiculous.
One of the advertised selling points of the Frostbite Engine was being "unmodable," so I doubt they'll support mods.

A stupid thing to be proud of if you ask me. Modding isn't just about a bunch of freeloaders making content at no price, by modding several other talented programmers and artists could point out flaws in the engine, or find ways to improve it themselves, such as has happened with with Fallout NV and Skyrim. All this at no cost, except for making a mod kit of sorts.
Its their loss though, no free patching for them, at least on PCs anyway. If DA:I really wants to compete with Skyrim, I mean since they're taking inspiration on certain aspects of Skyrim, they need to do it on all fronts and one of the reasons Skyrim is popular has to do with mods. You can bet that game will still be played for countless years to come.
I hope DAI is good enough that people won't miss mods in the first place.
DAO was fantastic but now I've got a chance to play it on my laptop (had no idea it could run it wheeeee exciting!!), and it's improved 100% with all the various mods available out there. As great as DAO was, it was lacking in some areas for sure. Hopefully DAI will be more polished.
I doubt that there will be OFFICIAL mod support.
Frostbite does not appear to be "mod-friendly," and it seems there may not be a Toolset. But that doesn't mean it will be unmoddable. Unless all the files on your hard drive relating to the game are locked and uneditable (and maybe not even then), they can be modded.
That said, it might requires modders going through those files and often figuring out what data's in them without any support or documentation.
Again, though there will (apparently) be no Toolset, it will be interesting to me what else about the game shows "openness" to mods. Will there be an override folder? An "official" DA:I sub-forum for modders, where they can discuss files and data structures amongst themselves? SOME help given to them via some "under the table" documentation about files from the devs themselves?
I guess, as always, we'll see.
Pretty sure they've been unencouraging to DAI being mod friendly since the beginning.
That's why I really want to know if we'll be able to open locks without a rogue in our party. That was one of the essential mods for me in DAO and DA2, hahah. Also the faster run speed one.
