We know we're going to have horses in DAI.

What else do you hope makes an appearance as a mount?

Canonly, halla are used as mounts by the Dalish and not just to pull caravels.  We know that brontos are used by dwarves as mounts and to pull carts underground.  And one of the DLCs has people using wyverns as mounts.

I'd love to see a surprise appearance of griffins.  Yeah, I know that's unlikely, but I'd like to see it anyway.

I'd be amused if we could have donkeys and/or ponies, too.  You want a mount but you're poor?  Go buy a donkey.  Later it can carry your loot, when you can afford a horse finally.

Another mount I'd like to see is a horse- or ox-drawn cart.  You couldn't take it off the beaten path, but this way everyone can ride in your cart/wagon and you can carry some stuff with you too.  Maybe a mobile campsite that you can unpack.

Thoughts?

I wanna jump on a companion's shoulders and piggy-back everywhere.

On a more serious note, wyverns would be epicsauce. FemQunari riding around on her wyvern pet-mount-thing. Yes.

Only if that companion is a qunari!

... Or a dwarf.  Because that would be funny.  Not like they aren't strong enough to do it though.

I'd like to mount Iron Bull.

No but really, griffins would be nice or anything that's not only a horse.

DRAGONS!! Hehe. That would be epic!

I wonder if they'll bother with more than one type of mount though.

So were dragons.  They got better.

Oh yes I would.

Horses are cool as long as they get their own chainmail like the concept art shows. I'm not really sure what else would suffice, besides dragons, but, I mean, the likelihood of that is 0 to none.

._.

No dragons are just a rarity, there was a presumption that they were extinct in universe.

And Bioware never commented on that species regarding its existence.

They stated point blank Griffins are  a dead species.

They can easily say a pocket of surviving griffins was in an isolated location. Thats if its in their best interest to reintroduce the species. Nothing is absolute in these type of situations

True but i tend to lean towards developer comment over speculation and hope.

That's all.

Nothing is saying that they cannot change their mind, just that their comments thus far have been basically "They are dead."

A royal chariot with an emaciated human gurl leaving rose petals in my wake.

Or I'd like to be carried by Cassandra.

At most I'm guessing Horses, Halla and Bronto.

You're probably right. Do you think they'll be class-specific?

-_- Go fall into a pit then.

Stannis is actually meant to be on the Throne and he is a better character.

I'm not falling in any pit, I'm just going to hop on my dragon and fly away to paradise, and I happen to agree with you about Stannis so he can have the Iron Throne ;)

... A dog chariot, pulled by a pair of massive Mabari warhounds.  That's what I want!

Also, re: on the griffins.  I suspect they aren't even really a "species" but actually some kind of magical construct.  Whenever computers/graphics engines are at a state where it's feasible to have both very high-end graphics and fast-moving flying mounts, it won't surprise me if Dragon Age lore suddenly coughs up a magic spell to recreate griffins.

Either that, or there are a few wild ones somewhere.  The white coloring (they were described as being white) suggests either a mountain peak or more likely a snow-dwelling creature, assuming that they were natural and not created.  Or, alternately, a domesticated variant of a wild creature that wouldn't be naturally white--we humans love animals to be solid black and white for some reason.  White creatures in the snow would be hard to find, especially if they were aggressive.  Similarly, a brown/grey creature in an earth-tone environment wouldn't be easily found.  The ones the Wardens rode are definitely extinct, and we can probably put that down to the Blight/being tainted.  But those had to come from somewhere, or did they simply not exist prior to the Grey Wardens?

I really hope so.

We'll have to purchase our mounts, from what I understand, but maybe there are some (bronto, halla, wyvern maybe?) that we could earn through quests.
