I think it was a reference to Superman. I haven't beaten the game, but I doubt the child will play into the story line.

Hmm, I know it's wrong universe-ish, but there are these giant spiders in the game and they're in the Deep Roads with all that lyrium. So maybe one of these spiders from a place that has a really heavy lyrium concentration might bite someone, and then this someone could develop some unique spider-like talents. Wouldn't such a person go well with Super Ser and Ser Bruce?

He can team up with Ser Hal, who works as a catapult tester for Lady Carol. During one test he was chosen by a Dying Apostate who gave him a wondrous ring and was made a member of the secret order of the knights of the Emerald Beacon.
