It makes sense to do it as late as possible, just before Cronos. That way, you can get all available character scenes.

You don't miss any scenes if you do it earlier. They gradually become unlocked as you finish original conversations with characters and their missions/arcs. Which actually is 10 times better and natural tahn all crammed before Cronos.

I like to celebrate the fall of Thessia by taking Liara on a field trip to Lesuss (AY monastery mission).

If you have no missions left after you do the Citadel Party or Citadel DLC, you can't unlock everything the DLC has to offer. Some things will only occur after the party.

To the best of my knowledge, you can just play a few rounds of Armax Arena to trigger the next unlock, if and only if there are no missions left in-game.

Armax Arsenal Arena fights don't count as a mission. Some events trigger after some Citadel Side Missions are done, and some require a mission to trigger other events. I've tried with AAA, but it doesn't do anything to make new events appear.

In terms of story, I would agree with the people who say to do it after Rannoch. That said, I prefer playing it as late as possible, though I tend to use it as a sort of substitute for the ending :-p

So story missions after rannoch & hangouts/party after sanctuary works well? I guess couple of n7 missions should be saved?

I go to get the Lancer as soon as I can but then I leave the rest for later, just before Cronos. Because of MEHEM, I don't have to leave the party after the final battle. Otherwise, that would be the right place for it in my game.
