SO, I am currently playing ME2. I am almost finished with the game so I decided to start downloading ME3 through Origin. Then I go to play ME2 and it tells me I have to validate my copy of ME2 through Origin. Made me login. I did. Now, the game will not open in either Steam or Origin.

Origin policies that are not customer & steam friendly. The best thing you can do right now is go to ea live chat and resolve the matter there.

Let orignin do the patching and try to start the game, exit it then (it might crashs). Then just verify the files with Steam and Origin stops updating ME2.

disable automatic game updates in Origin, verify game cache on Steam to recover any corrupt files, and you're done. that's what I had to do. mind you, ME2 is an abandoned game so you can do whatever you want to it

This is why I don't get the PC version, even though I'm sure my PC is more than capable of handling the trilogy. At least the console version don't have this annoying origin-steam issues.

 

Maybe I would get the trilogy edition from origin someday, but only if the price drops under 15$.

How did this occur?  I have both ME1 and ME2 on Steam and ME3 on Origin and I don't recall Origin ever asking about ME2.  Did you try to play it through Origin?

OT, just repair ME2 in Steam library, and force Origin to not update ME2, then you're good to go, you cannot launch the game from Origin tho, only from Steam, at least works for me.
