Not going to happen, as JeffZero said it will just be an HD update anything regarding story or gameplay (apart from a few tweaks) won't change.

then there would be exactly ZERO point for me to buy it at all

now back to hoping for a next Gen crysis trilogy

In fact I have a question to those who think this will alter the gameplay of ME1 (and 2) and they anticipate it as such: which series have you seen update themselves for a follow-up console so quickly that have done so? I'm aware it does happen but it always occurs when a game is being *remade* after a far longer period of time, as far as I've ever seen anyway.

It's just a shame because people are going to expect it (they always do -- I've witnessed fandom hype for MGS HD, FFX HD, et al) and as always there's immense "h8 u [game company] this is a cheap cash-in" after the inevitable reveals that that isn't the case.

Mass Effect 1 will not, in fact, have hundreds of thousands of dollars poured back into it to completely transform its environments, engine, everything into ME3, because there is in fact no button press for such massive shifts.

What were you going to expect? It was pretty obvious that its only going to be a port for the X1 and PS4 nothing more.

Even with that don't expect any ending changes in the HD remake (since Bioware said they are done with the endings and are making "ME4"), this however belongs in another discussion no need to derail this thread any further.

I imagine he wasn't expecting anything different, much like myself he just thinks that bringing the ME Trilogy to next gen isn't worth doing unless it's done right. Having played all 3 games before I see no reason to go back there for a simple facelift. Porting the trilogy will mostly benefit gamers who never played the trilogy before but I doubt any of these games would be impressed with what they'll be getting, as I said earlier the games have not aged well, pumping up the resolution and the frame rate will only enhance the original games flaws not make them look better.

I think it would try to fix all the bugs in all three games but other than that, trying to fix all the flaws in all three games for the next gen would be expensive.

"Unless it's done right" is what they always say, and I guess by your book "they" never do it "right". :\

I realize I'm coming off as uncharacteristically antagonistic in this thread and I'm not intending to, but I've seen this discussion flare up on several franchises with pending (or potentially pending) treatments. It's never what is wanted, but it usually ends up selling more than amply to justify the development.

Plus this is a terrific way to get people heading into a new console generation aware of a brand name with more big plans. That's the biggest reason for it, I think. But it's never about spending a great deal of money, it's supposed to be a shorter-term investment and frankly doing the gameplay things people always wish for would dictate something roughly on-par with a medium-scale new game in development costs.

i would buy it and since i assume the next game will be ps4/xbo it would help new comers to be able play for the consoles. As a biowarenut i hope dragon age Origins and DAII comes as well.

I don't see the point of the port apart from making money. It's certainly is not worth it from a PC point of view unless they do muck around with loading times to remove the loading screens (Hi Bob). I already do this to it:

FEUB1aB.jpg

As well as various .ini tweaks. And it's not like it is very expensive for all 3 games anyway.

For PC players there'll either have to be further incentive involved (which would almost certainly translate across the board, thus benefiting all) or it won't exist. I'm actually leaning toward the latter here, though. It's possible there'll eventually be a PS4 version of Mass Effect Trilogy with bigger bells and whistles than any current PC modifications can accomplish, but I confess I'm not keen on the computer side of the industry relative to what we "console plebz" are given. :P Maybe BioWare will offer a spiffy higher-definition pack gratis at least?

Biggest improvement would be cutting the 8 loading screens you have to go through to get into a MP match in ME3 down to 1 or 2 (like a normal game). If they could bump up the graphics even a little bit, and cut down the loading time to a reasonable amount, I would throw so much money at this.

I am playing through ME1 right now, and would love the gameplay updated to ME3 style combat, but even if it wasn't, and it was just a straight port it would be worth playing again. And again. And again. Let's be honest - it probably wouldn't be worth their time to redo the combat of the first two games. Not with a new game / story arc right around the corner. But a straight port to next-gen systems would be worth their time.

Loading time is not a problem on PC at the moment, it's the bloody loading videos you have to wait to finish. Especially problematic on ME2. I don't mind the lifts so much on ME1 as at least there is dialogue.

But yes, unless there is a significant art overhaul (including polygon count on the models) then it will not be worth it for PC. It's only about £50-60 for all the games and DLC as it is. Probably less if I actually added it up.

I don't see this happening to the degree people are expecting or saying the only way they will buy the game. BioWare has to my knowledge always outsourced the ports post release of a game that has been released.  So expecting any changes to the game aside for ones that they never released because it might have been too big of a download I just don't see happening.

No matter what I don't see any changes happening to the game ever, for that would be considered by many around here a BioWare "money grab" to force people to buy the game again to get the "real ending".  Its the same with the combat of Mass Effect 1 and other areas of the games, I think the most we would get would be them using an internal high resolution asset to insert into the game and nothing else will really change.

If they do, Ik i'd buy it for ps4 no doubt,. I'm like a mass effect junkie. I just hope your online profile carries over... otherwise I'm not starting all over online.

If they do like Skyrim and release a high texture mod I'd be happy. At least to fix the crappy cerberus soldier textures.

I'd probably buy it so long as it includes all DLC. Another article on the same topic:

I'd buy it in an instant.

And playing ME3 multiplayer with the DualShock 4 would be a dream.

So, for all of the replies expecting a total remake, yeah no. That is not a realistic expectation. Sorry.

For the people who say a mere facelift would only be for the money. That is one good reason for them to do it. I'll give you another: Me. I want it. I'm not the only one. I would guess I'm not the only one who would like to have a next gen version available.

For the people still talking about the ending, this is not the correct thread for that. Thanks.

For the people asking for all the DLC: Agreed. This is a reasonable request in my opinion.

I would be impressed if they were able to fix all bugs when they port it, but even if that were possible, it would probably end up in new bugs.

Probably because its for the Next Gen consoles that DONT have backwards compatibility. It's not hard to understand at all

I'd hesitate to buy it (I'm not really interested in an Xbone or a PS4 anyway), but if it got a good facelift, some glaring bug fixes, and it inclues ALL of the dlc; then I'd say it would be a good move, a nice money spinner - which will hopefully boost ME4's budget, and help keep Mass Effect popular. Would be great if they added some extra content (like the Black Pits and new NPC's added the BG1 and BG2 re-release), however I do believe that would be extremely unlikely.

I would buy it day one if there are a number of fixes.

Load times. On the PS3 they were hell. Only Skyrim was worse. Reduce the loading times to the PC length and I will be happy.

High resolution textures are not a must be would be appreciated.

A few gameplay tweeks and if possible tighten the gameplay on ME1.

There are very few games I would rebuy on PS4. Mass Effect, Skyrim and GTA are the top ones.
